hey guys, so overall things are going pretty well compared to early on in the healing process. My main concern now is the ring swelling underneath the head. It’s been about 2 and half months now and although it’s gone down a little it seems to be at a point where it won’t go down anymore. It isn’t a tight swell but it’s enough to make things inconvenient in terms of comfortability and movement.in terms of sex I’m honestly staying away from it as I’ve found any time of sexual activity causes it to flare up and become more swelled. I’ve searched the forum and maybe I’m not searching hard enough but I’ve found hardly anything on people’s experiences with the donut swell under the head. When have you seen significant change in the donut swelling? Is there anything I can do to speed it up? I’ve tried massaging with oils and such but haven’t really noticed a significant change. I’ve attempted a few times to text and call my doctors support line with no answer. So I’m turning to you fine gentle men with the hopes that your experiences will help ease my anxiety on this

are you calling your primary care physician? If so you might want to try the surgeon. If neither of those produce a response perhaps try the ER
As you were aware of having an issue I would have avoided making it worse by sex or masturbation but I guess you have now realised that. Early sexual activity when you know you have a problem is not a good choice.
Take care
I’m definitely staying away from sexual activity as I don’t want to agitate it more, I’m more so asking others experiences in when thier swelling went down and how long it took. I’m not in pain or anything just the odd moment of discomfort I’m more so concerned on when I’m gonna start looking normal again. When ever my surgeon finds time to answer me it’s always “it looks like it’s healing well just give it time” so I know this is routine I just wanna know a time window of when it should be retuning to normal
The donut swelling is a common occurrence after circumcision and affects men healing in different ways. Mine was very prominent for at least the first 3 months before the swelling there started to go down - at 4.5 months it's loosened up a lot and the skin is now far more supple and free to move. I've found time is the best healer, as is plenty of lube and a condom for sex or masturbation, and just take it gently building up or doing new stuff at a comfortable pace.
I always feel a bit indulgent masturbating with a condom, but the benefits for that and sex are clear - less irritation of the skin through movement, less mess to clean up, provides a protective layer, etc. I've been told countless times not to judge until around 6 months - most (if not all) of the wound and tissue healing is usually complete by then and full aesthetic healing can take a year or so. Time, patience and a positive attitude - they'll get us there, mate.
