Considering circumcision. Any advice?

I'm 35 and I have been seriously considering having a circumcision for many years now. The reasons for doing so are:

1. Recurring infections which, although often mild, are unpleasant and can cause some embarrassment and discomfort.

2. My foreskin just feels as though it's in the way. When I masturbate or have sex, the foreskin has to be pulled back as far as it can be before I enjoy any sensation. For me, the main sensitive parts are the head and the frenulum. The foreskin itself feels almost numb. This seems to have happened as I have become older.

3. I do actually prefer the look and think mine would look much better circumcised. I realise this isn't a reason in itself, but my girlfriend also thinks it would look nice and will support me with this.

The only concerns I have are:

1. I would like to keep the frenulum. I have heard a lot of circumcision clinics do a frenuloplasty. Is this the only method of keeping it and how exactly does that work? Nothing I have Google explains it.

2. I would like it to look neat and clean cut, with no foreskin left, so that no skin can be pulled over the head and it looks clean. I think a lower scar line might look better, but it's this associated with any problems?

Thanks

D

Had similar feelings to yours. I’m on day 8 of getting cut . Always felt my foreskin didn’t have much feeling or use for me

how bad does morning wood and boners feel

Have you spoken to a doctor or an urologist about your ongoing issues? Do you know what your recurrent infections are and what is causing them? Does your foreskin fully retract when your penis is erect?

Its does, but as there's a lot of foreskin it creates a "flap" that can get irritated during sex and/or pulls the foreskin back over the head as I'm pulling out, spoiling the sensation. Sometimes I keep it pulled back with one hand just to get more feeling.

Do you actually get infections? What is your penis health problem? Have you consulted a doctor about your issues?

It is normal for a foreskin to be pulled back over the glans when withdrawing the penis. That is not a medical problem.

Regarding the repeated infections, try washing with plain water only.

Be cautious about circumcision. It may or may not help but it has risks too.

Yes, I've been doing that for years, since this first started happening. I know shower gel etc can be bad. I used to use that all the time until this started, but ever since I've had issues. Probably about 7 years now so I'm getting fed up of it.

Im gonna be honest with you, its totally worth it, I got mine today. I would say going to the right doctor whos an expert. the surgery was so chill and I have not felt alot of pain, probably the oxys. Im worried about morning wood tomorrow and i would reccomend it, girls like a good circumcised penis too

I'm glad to see you are thinking this thing through, once done it's done. Like you I had similar reasons for wanting mine at an older age.

I had mine circumcised just over 6 weeks ago. The surgery is easy, and for me the recovery was also pretty easy. The first 2 days were the only time I felt I might need the pain meds prescribed (Norco), after that no need. Stitches had dissolved by days 14-16 and by now I can handle the scar without discomfort, 1st sex with the wife yesterday.

I highly recommend you have complete conversations with your Urologist about where to place the scar line, make sure he will preserve as much as possible of your nerve rich inner foreskin. Mine preserved all of it with the scar line at about mid shaft when erect and I'm very happy with the result.

Most of the poor outcomes you read about on this forum were from very low and tight circumcisions combined with little or no prior conversations with the doctor about exact procedure and where the suture line will be. This can leave a man with drastically reduced sensation ability and lifetime regret.

I would do it over again, wish I had done it years ago.

That's interesting. I actually have issues with the inner foreskin and have considered a low circumcision for a clean, neat appearance. I obviously don't want reduced sensitivity, especially not to the point where I may not enjoy it, but I know what works for me now and I feel that the foreskin plays no part in it. How neat would it look if it was higher?

If you are getting frequent infections, then avoid washing the foreskin with soap. Use plain water only.
