So, my boyfriend is a diabetic and he had a circumcision last of January and when he when back to the dr for 3 wk check-up, he was told he still had alot of swelling. No sex for aleast 2 more was. He followed that order. Here it is almost 8 wks later and sex is painful for him. Is this normal to still have pain with sex? Or does he need to be seen again by another doctor? He still seems to have swelling still..He was having problems due 2 the skin so I pushed for him to get it done. I'm his girlfriend and I'm feel guilty now. I seen him bleed and hurt was the reason I pushed for him to get it done. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Painfully sex
Hi there. I'm sorry to hear that your boyfriend is still having problems. Healing can be compromised for diabetics. His condition is well controlled, I hope? Please don't feel guilty. May I suggest he sees his GP to monitor his progress, but also maybe wait a little longer before engaging in sexual activitiy, and give the wound as much time as necessary to heal fully. The usual advice is to wait for around six weeks before engaging in masturbation or intercourse, so 8 weeks doesn't seem to me to be all that long for a man with his condition. Don't rush into sex, but as I say, give his body all the time it needs to heal. I wish you both well and for your boyfriend, a successful recovery. All the very best to you both. SetteeSofa
If he still has swelling and pain then he may have an infection that needs treatment, I had to have a second treatment with antibiotics to sort my problem after circumcision.
Thanks everyone. I have told him everything you have told or advised for him. I told him I would feel better if he would let a doctor check make sure all is well in that department. Healing up like it should have. He does take daily sugar medication. So, far its doing good. I pray it stays that way. I guess he is embarrassed because of his age when he had it done, is why I'm having a hard time with him bout another doctor. I'm not going let him slide on it if he still has pain. Love him too much not to worry about him.. Parents didn't believe in circumcision when he was borned. Didn't see no reason for it.
Can't comment on diabetes or healing but there is no embarrassment being cut as an adult, especially for medical reasons so he should see the doc head held high. And you shouldn't feel guilty, even if there are issues right now you did the right thing for the right reason
It is a shame we men are too embarrassed to discuss such issues with our doctors, I have been seen by both male and female doctors, who have checked my circumcision and they are not embarrassed. I have found it has got easier with age. I hope he makes a good recovery.
