Morning all, here I am again for another update on my healing post-circumcision. 10 weeks healed now and the new normal is continuing to sink in.
So, where am I? Overall, in a good place. Salt washes every other day have become a part of my routine since week 9 and are proving to be very good at removing any remaining dry skin and helping dissolve two random stitch ends that popped out round my frenulum (which was odd, but solved themselves the same day). The only real issue I had was post-nut soreness and swelling after a handy shandy that I'm convinced is a cauterised vein end that got irritated (3 days later it's far less sore and swelling has gone down a lot), I guess this is just part of the healing process as I've seen lots of people saying they experienced a bit of soreness and swelling after sex or masturbation a while after the op. Also, sensitivity of the head is basically gone. I wear underwear all day without any padding and am walking normally - only issue is tapping the head with a towel by accident while I drying off after a shower - that can still be like an alarm bell going off if I'm not paying attention (LOL). Anyway, let's break it down into the highlights.
Salt Washes - Why I wasn't doing these earlier once the outside healed, I'll never know. They're excellent, soothing and have helped remove lingering dry skin on the scar line. They also helped resolve two tiny little stitch ends on my frenulum that popped out all of a sudden. I saw them, did a salt wash, and they were gone. Boom, and the stitches are gone. I do them every other day as part of a post wash/shower routine. I've noticed my scar line is smoothing out since starting them and a lot of redness on the scar line itself has also started moving towards a more pinkish colour. It could just be that I'm healing at the same time or the salt washes are helping it along. Either way, I'm going to keep doing them.
Random Stitch Ends - These caused a bit of concern, one morning I noticed two tiny little stitch ends had popped out of my frenulum, where the last of the real swelling on my chap is located. However, a salt wash seemed to dissolve or remove them immediately and afterwards they were gone and I've nothing reappear at the site since. It's been a week now and I've not seen anything else pop out the scar line. It was a bit odd, but spitting bits of stitch material - especially dissolving stitches made of Vicryl - is a common side effect. I was told that the material can linger in the tissue for months as it dissolve - they lose a lot of tensile strength after 2 weeks and most of the visible external ends are gone within 6 weeks, but the body deals with the material for up to 6 months afterwards, and sometimes pushes bits it can't dissolve out. My urologist was not phased at all and told me it's all very common, so if anyone experiences it, don't worry. Did anyone else experience a bit of random late-healing stitch material spitting out at any point?
Post-Nut Soreness/Swelling - Well, it's a thing. You have a lovely handy shandy with Kenny G playing in the background and candles all round the room... pump pump SPLAT... then you have swelling and mild soreness for a few days. I've seen a lot of people saying the same thing about post-nut swelling and soreness. I've had it a few times now and not really been phased by it, but this time I had rather more pain just around an area I'm positive there's a vein end that was cauterised and it probably got a bit irritated. The soreness was worse in the first 24 hours, but has slowly resolved to 36 hours later feeling far less and nearly gone. Funnily enough, it only really hurts when I am flaccid, cos my morning boner the next day didn't hurt at all, nor have they since. I think it was swelling up with blood or lymph fluid while soft and floppy, or if I've been sat for too long. Any other swelling around other bits of my chap caused by the nut was gone within 48 hours (which I think is good going). Anyone else experienced pain around cauterised vein ends under the scar line post-nut?
So, there we go. As you can tell, I'm definitely at that stage of healing where it's only little annoying things that pop up from time to time, and my mood is very positive overall. It feels like natural healing process stuff, rather than upsetting setbacks. Would be keen to hear from others on the points above. I'm seeing my urologist for a follow-up on Thursday - nothing major, just he was keen to see his work and set my mind to rest about my progress.
Hope you're all well, and if anyone wants to shoot the proverbial or ask any questions, please comment or DM. If you wanna talk cock, let's talk cock.
Tom.
