First of all I would like to thank this community which has helped me throughout the journey, really all the people over here are fantastic and easy to reach who has helped me clear out many doubts and anxieties which I have been going through throughout.
I am a 29 year old male and had tight foreskin issues since younger days, tried various alternative method to loosen it up but none of them worked for me. After waiting and postponing the decision to get circumcised , I finally decided to go for it last December 2021.
Day 0 the day before the surgery : I am a working professional due to the ongoing pandemic situation I am working from home so I took an early log off from work to have some me time before the surgery honestly was not freaking or anything just a little worried
Day 1: Got admitted to the hospital and it was a day care so I previously had a discussion with my Urologist which he has already guided and informed me about the procedure he will be performing and when I can go home. The admission process was smooth and was ready for the operation in like 30 minutes.
Slightly nervous, was taken to the operation theatre where in the doctor and the other medical professionals were already prepared. After doing all the pre checks I was given a local anaesthetic shot on the bottom of the shaft a slight discomfort is what I can explain post which I felt nothing.I was wide awake listening to the beep beep sounds of the ECG machine tagged to me a thin muslin cloth spread over my eyes watching the bright lights above me while the doctor performed the surgery ( went for conventional) I never felt any pain or rather anything while the surgery was performed except some tingling while the sutures were tied and placed. The surgery was for about 45 minutes post which I was transferred to the bed and kept under observation for 3 hours. I literally felt nothing no pain no discomfort was just waiting for my 3 hour to be over so that I can go to my own home and chill. One thing I was not advised was "you should not sit for too long" when I was discharged.
Back home I literally sat and played some Dota2 for couple of hours and when I got up I saw a pool of blood although I felt nothing but it was something concerning for me and got a bit freaked out. Called up my doc and he said not to worry this is quite common and was asked to chill and lie down. I was given a 5 day course anti biotics and 5 day course painkillers luckily during the entire course I felt very minimal pain rather discomfort is the right word I can say. The first night to bed was something quite a remembrance as when I had the first night erection it felt as if it would burst open my stitches. And I lay wide awake post that erection the night
Week 1 : Had some bleeding issues for the first 3 days straight wherein I bled a lot had to change dressing 5 times in 3 days as the dressing was getting wet due to blood. I was advised not to take a full body shower for 7 days straight and keep it dry, I resorted to sponge baths. Please soak your dressing in lukewarm water before changing the current one other wise it will be a huge pain. The first week was tough as the nocturnal erections were something which would wake you up and keep you awake all night. I used to not drink any fluids or water post 6 PM to empty my bladder before going to bed (to minimise erections at sleep).
Oh yes one more thing needed to sit and pee as the urethra opening was acting like a sprinkler and definitely you do not want to sprinkle your tinkle all over the place
Sleeping posture - Either laying all on my back or in fetal position is actually what worked for me.
Swelling - Pretty much
Week 2 : Off goes my dressing and the Frankenstein tool is visible I was advised to keep it open and let it air dry as much as possible and all the oral meds were stopped and was advised to apply antibiotic ointment for 10 days, nothing major some occasional bleeding just below the frenulum ( like a couple of drops ) and the stitches really annoyed as they were poking all over the place.
Nocturnal erections still sucked.
Peeing posture : Sitting
Swelling - Pretty much the same
Week 3 : First stitch came off and was so excited but the stitches poking my clothes really hurt a lot as they were dry and felt like barb wires, slowly be the end of week 3 some stitches dissolved but not as what I expected. Major stitches still remain and occasional bleeding was still there underneath the frenulum.
Nocturnal erections hurted much less.
Swelling - Swollen but less than week 2
Peeing posture : Sitting
Week 4 : My follow up visit to the Urologist ( he was out of town but was constantly following up with me over phone whenever I needed some clarification ). I expressed my concern about the sutures taking time to self dissolve to which he stated to take 1 more week into observation else will cut them off .
Nocturnal erections - didnot hurt at all and finally slept throughout the night like normal and started wearing normal clothes
Peeing posture : Sitting
Swelling - Pretty much gone down
Week 5 : Stitches did not played well with and they were sticking out like anything. Went to the doctor and he removed all of them felt kinda funny when they were removed and slightly ticklish but no pain at all.
Peeing posture : sitting still as it did sprinkle ( much less than before though )
Swelling - Very Minimal
Week 6 : Returning back to normal felt so relieved that stitches did not hurt at all. Now the problem was sensitivity but to be honest it was not that concerning that I have expected yeah it felt strange as the supple layer is now exposed but I always wore briefs so wearing and walking on them even post surgery was never a problem for me yeah definitely it felt funny and was getting horny every now and then as little rub against cloth would trigger my erection.
Was taking small 30 mint walk daily to get used to the feeling.
Peeing Posture : Normal back to standing.
PS: Expect some discharge from the incision areas especially below the frenulum for some days.
Swelling - Very Minimal
Week 7 : Had to travel to a different city for few days , honestly was hesitant about the travel especially post the surgery as I was slowly getting the pace at recovery, but believe me or not it was all smooth never felt any discomfort or pain and everything felt like it was before surgery.
Sensitivity : yes it will be there but its all a mental thing I assume as the sooner I accepted the fact or the feeling the better it felt.
Swelling - Very Minimal
Week 8 : I did masturbation for the first time and boy it took forever but post that I did not have issues its just getting used to the the new method.
Swelling - slight
Currently post 11 weeks post circumcision I feel great I no longer have any discomfort or any issues , yes swelling will be there for quite sometime and trust me it is still there for me definitely not like before but it will stay for 6-8months.
Different people heal differently and there are tons of factors as well just stay strong and there are loads of negativity across the internet regarding circumcision , if you have to do it just do it do not wait as the sooner you do the better it is.
We are all with you and reach out to me if you need more details !
