Has anyone else been lucky enough to experience a totally pain-free circumcision experience as an adult?
I’d read a couple of posts on the long running Men’s Health ‘Adult Circumcision’ thread that said they’d had less discomfort than they’d suffer at a dental appointment but was sceptical and expected the worse when I was done.
However in the event i needn’t have worried. I had a general and all I felt was the IV line going in the back of my hand so on a par with a regular blood test. Woke up numbed with a local, no pain thereafter even with erections. Stitches were occasionally prickly a few days on but that was it.
Hi. I was circumcised as a baby but had a revision when I was 20 as I wanted the skin to be very tight and I also wanted my frenulum removed. I had two injections in my penis which hurt just a little. I had no other pain at all. I took a painkiller before bedtime as a precaution, but didn’t bother after that. A few stitches didn’t come out so I went back to my circumciser and he took them out. That hurt a little. But that was it. No pain with erections or anything. I was lucky and I’m glad that you were too.
May I ask why you got circumcised?

Hi, I’d suffered with recurrent fungal irritations for over 20 years that sometimes escalated to balanitis. If you Google balanitis those ‘put you off your breakfast’ pics were just like mine, red raw, skin flaking off so miserable times. Creams didn’t cure it, felt messy and usually made it worse. Sympathetic GP referred me and said he’d fight if necessary but there was no question or resistance from NHS UrologyConsultant.
Obviously in my case I didn’t have the ‘never previously exposed’ hypersensitivity as suffered by phimosis sufferers in fact quite the opposite. Surprisingly immediately more comfortable than previous. I read a guy describing it as being like taking your shoes and socks off and walking on a dry sandy beach. A good comparison in my case.

I’m glad it worked out well.

Couldn’t have been better thanks, however I do recognise that I’m lucky!

Yes you are lucky or worked out well, as am I and as are my sons, but I think generally it does work out well. Some people have more pain and longer recoveries but it usually appears to be ok in the long run.
I haven’t had any pain. Only minor discomfort were the late night erections when the first week. And I would rate it a 3-4 out of 10. Not too bad. Now my erections just feel weird at the moment.
I have glue around the incision that’s peeling off, so the mini erections just make it feel weird because I can feel it pulling the glue, and then the head of the penis pushing on the boxers and pants. I don’t have pain though. Still waiting to see what happens when I get a full erection.
Yes I expect it will. I believe masturbation will be a lot different. I was first circumcised as a baby so I’m not best places to advise on the difference!
Like Peter, I had a recircumcision as an adult to tighten up my neonatal one. It was done under local anaesthetic and the worst bit were the injections to numb things up, but I'd have to say they were no worse than during dental work.
I was sent home wrapped in gauze with packet of paracetamol but never even needed to take one. Night time erections were a bit 'tight'round the stitches but didn't keep me awake. Once it had scabbed over (day 2 or 3), started a regime if salt water baths and the stitches began to come out on day 7. By day 9 I was fully healed with new skin beginning to grow over the remaining sutures, which I took out myself with sterilized tweezers and scissors. Couldn't wait any longer for 'relief' 😉
The dentists analogy is very accurate. Really a very straightforward and in my case pain-free procedure but I can imagine that those with phimosis will have a different experience with the sudden sensitivity of a never previously exposed glans.
I had mine done...no pain or discomfort...I did not even take pain meds that were ordered after, sutures fell out after 5 to 6 days, frenulum swollen 6 to 8 weeks, now normal and all is in good working order.
I had no pain at any time with my circumcision, and didn't take any of the pain killers prescribe. I was even enjoying the way my penis felt as soon as I woke up! The slight swelling felt good, just like an erection. Going to the dentists office is a another matter. The pain has been really bad when I've some crowns done. Next time they're going to make the injections in several different areas.
I did, still recovering from it. Only had some mild pain during night erections (3/10 scale). My only issue was and is a edema around the frenulum area.
Mine was an adult circumcision done under local anaesthetic, and I also had glue to close the cut. Healing was not at all painful - merely slightly uncomfortable from time to time as the skin knitted totogther. More or less all healed up within 3 weeks.
I wouldn't call it pain-free, but I wasn't crippled by pain, more discomfort. Most of that was resolved with pain killers. As head sensitivity decreased and my stitches released I was definitely in less discomfort, to now at 3 months being able to go about normal life without thinking about my willy every minute.
