I’ve been suffering with pretty bad phimosis since I was in my early teens (now 24). I would always think to myself I will wake up one day and I’ll magically be able to retract my foreskin... I was wrong lol! After weeks of research and a consultation, I got circumcised four days ago. The procedure was rather painful but I pushed through. I had quite a bit of bleeding the past few days and swelling - night time was the worst because of erections!
I just washed my penis in a luke warm bath which was surprisingly ok. My head isn’t that sensitive which surprised me given I haven’t been able to expose it for nearly 15years. I’m still rather swollen and the swollen part is starting dry/scab a bit... I assume this is normal? I’ve been applying Vaseline and recently bio oil (I’ve been reading all the other posts).
I’m sorry for the rant, but this has been a big journey for me! I hope the pain and swelling does subside as the weeks go on, it’s sometimes feels like it will never get better/ was it even worth it...
It feels like learning to walk all over again, like you have a new penis haha!

Glad that you did a lot of research about this. It’s not a light decision to make! Was the actual procedure painful? I’m on day 9 of my recovery. After day 4 most of the swelling on my head and shaft went away. The bruising at the base where the doctor injected local anesthesia has almost all faded away. I have 2 more days before I am allowed to take my pressure bandage off. With the bandaging on, all I can see is my head poking out at the end, so I’m not sure if the scar line area is black and blue but I can tell you aside from the bulky feeling of a bandage wrapped around my penis in my underwear, I feel about 99% normal in terms of getting around and not even realizing anything has happened. Last night my erections were really strong and frequent. No pain, just pressure- I presume from the healing skin being tight.
If you wake up while you have an erection building, get up right away, go to bathroom and sit down to pee. It helps make the erection go away. It’s really important to be on top of these while you are in the initial stages of healing because you could pop a stitch and your wound could open up and that will prolong healing time and could cause some more scaring.
I think keeping the wound moist with Vaseline throughout the day is really beneficial. Some people tell you to keep it dry but you can easily google this and read real medical and scientific studies that show moist wound healing is better than letting a wound “air out” for a number of reasons: keeps debris out of wound, heals faster and with potentially better cosmetic outcome.
I think the bio oil, is better to apply after the incision is closed. It’s more for scar fading after the fact. I hope you will continue to update us! I’m going to do a post after I remove my bandage on Sunday
Yes the procedure was painful for me too. Th first couple of weeks you have doubts and worry a lot. Which is all normal. There is a reason why doctors recommend 6-8 weeks don't try anything as you are still healing. And you have to learn to use the new you.
When you've healed this will all be a distant memory.
Nocturnal erections are no fun for the first couple of weeks. Not drinking anything after 7PM and emptying your bladder just before bed will help minimize these.
Yeh it’s much better mate! Little bit of swelling left, but going down day by day. Very glad the initial pain/bleeding had significantly subsided. How are you tracking?
