Hi guys - (I'm 72) I'm one week post op and all seems well so far (fingers still crossed). I had to have my op as many months ago my foreskin split (not massively but it was very painful for months) and after it healed it would not retract anymore. The tip of my foreskin was pulled tight like a rubber band against my glans.
I'm interested to read that lots are having various issues since their op and hope to glean some insight or advice from the experience of others farther post-op.
I personally opted for a 'local' anesthesia during my op rather than having a 'general' and being made to go unconscious. I wonder how many others chose local to general?
My surgeon said the covering gauze will probably fall off in my pants by the time I arrived home from (Canterbury Hospital) about 30-mins away by car and he was right. He advised I 'keep it clean' (of course) and not to allow 'wound area' to dry.
He said I should use Vaseline (or Sudocrem) morning and night to lubricate it smearing it around the glans and stitches. I was allowed to shower on 3rd or 4th day, then every other day until stitches disappear or dissolve, and then daily. He said there was no need to wrap or cover penis as pants or boxers are sufficient coverings.
The op itself took about 30+-mins (although I was in the theatre for about an hour) and after tea and a sandwich I was given my letter allowing me home.
I asked if I should rest (we like to walk). He said I could walk as much as I liked. We walked 3 miles the following morning after surgery and have done since daily. Thankfully with no issues.
I have had no pain, nor required any painkillers. That said my glans and stitches are both still very sensitive. However my 'wound' such as it is, looks fine considering it having been dissected just a week previously.
I will further elaborate my tale as the days and weeks advance.
Until then I wish everyone a successful, speedy, and problem free recuperation.
