Post circumcision - bleed from penis tip

Hey, first time posting. I had a circumcision 6 days ago for phimosis and a short frenulum. The healing process has been going well. However, I have been struggling with night erections and the pain that comes with them. Last night I went to the toilet at 5am with a semi-erection to urinate, during peeing my penis tensed and caused the urine stream to go very strong and caused a lot of pain, which led to a few drops of blood coming out the end of my penis is. Then in the day I experienced a few more drops of blood which appeared to form a slight clotting at the top of the urethra opening, I then urinated and got incredible pain again, which dislocated the blood crust… I am not sure what’s going on… can my hard jet of urine cause damage? Is it maybe just a tiny cut slightly on the inside of the urethra opening ? I don’t know, it’s just depressing, as I was just dealing with the pain of night erections, and now I have this pain to urinate, worried it won’t heal while I’m still passing urine.. any feedback would be hugely appreciated and anyone has had a similar experience.

I would suggest to discuss it with the operating surgeon. He will guide you well.

You should not be bleeding from your urethra. Speak to a doctor about it.

It is just strange it happened after a very high pressured wee, and it’s a couple of drops of blood every 4-5 hours, does make me worry though, will be hard to get hold of the surgeon, I can try contact my GP tomorrow.

The same happened to me too. Mine was a bit more serious because i pushed a little to hard to pee and I started bleeding. Just try to hold it and pee softly and it should go away in a couple days. If it persists then reach out to your dr.

Heya, just an update, the bleeding went away after 24 hours. What helped me was submerging my penis into a bowl/jug of warm water to wee, took all the pain away.

Hi I am new here. I just got circumcised 14 days ago also due to phimosis and a short frenulum (had it since a child), and been having similar issues. First week or so my pee was spraying everywhere and I had to use a plastic measuring jug. In the past 3 days when I’m trying to pass urine, I definitely know that I want to go but it’s sometimes delayed by a few seconds and it then jets out into a thin stream (sometimes 2), with some pinching / stinging pain. Your bowl of warm water tip might be handy, I’ll give it a try. Thanks

Sounds similar to what was going on with me. I am also on day 14 too now, and I have to be careful with how I control the flow of urine, too much pressure and it stings, but controlling the flow and reducing the pressure helps. However, submerging the tip of your penis into warm water definitely takes that stress away and you can urinate with ease. I was a bit nervous about doing it due to chance of bacteria, but if you just do the tip it should be fine. It’s probably inflammation/swelling around the urethra causing the problem. I have been doing salt/boiled water dips aswell twice a day to keep everything clean too. Just want to get through this process with no hiccups! Let me know how it goes.

Yeah definitely and me too. Just want to get through this process and I’m trying to be as patient as possible. I also got an infection around the circumcision wound on the right side where some stitches came away and exposed the raw skin wound. This will take some time to heal now. My surgeon put me on 5 days of Ciprofloxacin and has told me to use the provided Iodene solution 2 times a day to keep the area clean using a Gauze pad. I’m doing all I can on my side, but new problems seem to present themselves. Today I’m seeing some dry skin on the glans and near the urethra opening area. I’ll update you soon, and likewise please do the same on your progress. Cheers

Hah I know what you mean, once you get over one concerning factor, another pops up! Ouch that doesn’t sound much fun, atleast it’s being treated. I am pretty sure I had some thrush like symptoms appearing under the glans and stitches, I have been using coconut oil 1-2 times a day in hope it clears up, and it seems alright so far.I’m sure dry skin is probably normal, the way I see it, if I am in a lot of pain or I start to feel feverish I’m not going to worry too much.

Currently I’m dealing with a stitch that has semi dissolved I think, as it has a sharp end stabbing me in my glans… not ideal. There seems to be a few reddish marks by each stitch, but I guess that’s just the next phase of healing now the inflammation and swelling has gone down.
