Over the past 6 or 7 weeks, with multiple trips to my GP and even an ultrasound of my kidneys and bladder, I’ve been experiencing discomfort when peeing, I have a constant urge to urinate which very seldom subsides, and I have to strain greatly as if I’m erect to actually pee.
They don’t think it’s my prostate, due to my young age (17), but I’ve been put on a 39 week long waiting list to see a urologist with the NHS.
There is also an irritation type feeling right at the opening of my urethra.
Just wondering what people on here might suggest, I’ve tried antibiotics and multiple NSAIDs along with painkillers

To start, you could ask your GP to make an open referral to a urologist - not to a particular hospital. This should give you access to other hospitals which might have shorter waits. Sometimes Trusts will have arrangements with private hospitals and you can opt for those for your NHS treatment.
If you are going to have to wait, your GP might want to consider trying you on doxazosin. This is an alpha blocker and works on an enlarged prostate to make peeing easier.
Going through same bud, I’m on a 6 month waiting list too n I’m at a prime age for prostate issues, nowt to do but wait. Ref sore penis tip go back to gp or sexual health clinic mate
Hi Man, it can be quite frustrating having problems like yours I had something similar in the past it can be quite worrying when you can't pee properly. It sounds like you have an inflammation which could be in your prostate or your urethra or bladder I presume your doctor did urine culture what were the results did you have a infection? and did they do any bloods? The sooner you can see the urologist the better.
Hey, sometime back I had a recurring UTI it was very hard to cure I took several different antibiotics over several weeks at a time. eventually it settled itself but there were times when I couldn't pee that well and was very painful. I feel myself I had inflammation in my prostate and bladder area eventually is settled. but even still sometimes it can flare up a little.
Hi, yeah, my GP has done several (3, to be exact) urine tests over the period that I've had these issues, nothing came back. I've also had 3 blood tests. 1 blood test was done just before I reported with these issues, which came back with low white blood cell count so they did another one a month later when I had the problems, which was apparently all fine, and they did a third to double check.
Over all, nothing alarming in the urine samples and the bloods.
This may sound unrelated but my urine is almost constantly yellow, whereas before I had these problems it was mostly clear, even if I drink a large amount of water over the day I still have quite dark urine. But no blood.
I have to make multiple trips to the toilet over a period of time. for example, if i drink say, a litre of water, I'll go to the toilet and urinate as much as I feel I can, then, say, 10-15 minutes later I feel I have to go again, and I'm then able to urinate more, even if I've not drank anything.
Hey, you need to see a urologist for further tests I know you're on the waiting list that can be really frustrating waiting. with your white blood cells low it would suggest you had an infection maybe in your bladder or kidneys did you have any pain at any stage in your back or lower tummy. you may still have some inflammation causing you difficulty to urinate and when you can't completely empty it can darken your urine. keep drinking lots of water and go as often as you can. I found if I left it too long it was more difficult and more painful even still today if I left it too long it can be painful starting. There are several conditions that can cause these symptoms you have, your urologist will do more test to find what is causing your symptoms in the meantime keep drinking lots and going I know it's a pain having to keep going but try and flush everything out.
