Sex after circumcision

Hi guys, I was circumcised for medical reasons on 16th Jan, and apart from popping a stitch or 2, and an open section of the wound, it has been healing ok.

My doc told me I could have sex again 6 weeks post op.

I am really looking forward to having sex again, but don't want to rush into it and set myself back.

I was just wondering what other people's experiences are when getting back into it and if you've had any issues?

Thanks everyone!

Great question and looking forward to replies from the guys with lived experience. My surg also said 6 weeks or I'd split the wound. Nice. From other posts there are some who try sooner and others that need to wait longer. Also seen advice that the longer you abstain the better the healing.

But let's face it: there's sex and then there's SEX / a systems check vs full on intercourse. Easy does it from week 6-8 seems the standard advice based on how things are healing up.

The Circ Info guide on page 14 advises that a condom should be worn until the scar line/inner foreskin is fully healed - for 2 to 3 months. (It also has some interesting alternatives to standard stimulation for those so inclined)...

I am 10 weeks post op and even though everything looks healed on the outside the inside isn't healed fully. Sex is doable, but slightly painful after. And like mentioned above sex is fine with lots of lube, but that good SEX is off the table for now. My doc said don't use a condom as it causes unnecessary friction. So I guess that's really up to you.

I waited the full six weeks and would advise that. We used a condom first time, which helped with penetration but was a bit sore when taking off.

Next few times we used Plenty of lube. As you can imagine, after abstaining for six weeks it all felt great.

So plenty of lube and don't rush is the order of the day.

Take it easy for the first few times, and use lots of lubrication. It will take a little time to get used to different sensations. It may be a little less sensitive at first because you are used to having all the sensitivity from your foreskin. However, because it takes a little longer, it will be much stronger. :) The sensitivity will most likely return, or you just get used to the new feel of things. I am 2.5 year post-op and I have almost as must sensitivity as I had before, and they still much stronger.

Good feedback FredFlinstone! Can only hope for similar results.Several guys here are asking how long it takes for the new look to settle down post circ and when their size will go back to the new normal. After 2.5 years, can you tell us your experience?

It would really help those concerned guys who have recently had the op and us worrywarts who are facing it in the next few weeks.

Has the look of things settled down for you now and was your size (hard or soft) affected at all by the surgery?

Cheers Mate.

I would say that it has been a continual process of settling down to the new normal. After 2.5 years the scar line has almost disappeared. The only thing remaining is a distinct difference in the skin color at the cut line.

I did not really notice a difference in the length. I did loose about 20 pounds in the year after the snip. This helped a little in the length department. I would say I gained another half inch by getting into shape and loosing some weight. This tightened things up a little as well. There is no skin movement at all during sex.

The exercise most likely helped improve the blood flow down there. So I imagine this helped in the sensitivity department as well.

Hey, just a quick question.. I’m 1 week post op - I had a bath today and the dead skin around the penis is hanging off but it’s attached to the stich. However, it’s leaving me to worry as if will stretch in the middle of the night etc.. there is a gap within the stich and it very red, looks like it’s going to bleed hardly nothing tho.. will this heal by itself?

Hey mate, I've experienced both those thing.

The open stitch is normal and will heal. So long as it's not bleeding or infected, you don't need to worry.

My doc told me to use solosite gel and wrap it lightly as a wet wound will heal better that way.

The dead skin will fall off. I pulled mine away gently after a shower but I wouldn't keep pulling if it resists.

The skin is going to stretch, I don't think you can stop that.

Good luck with it mate.
