I’m getting circumcised in August. I’ve been thinking about getting it done for three years now but didn’t know if it was the right decision.
I’m getting it done due to phimosis. I’ve had phimosis my whole life and have never been able to retract my foreskin.
My penis head is unbearably sensitive to touch as it is uncircumcised.
I’m wondering how long it will take to feel normal or desensitise to a tolerable level?
If anyone who’s had phimosis that wasn’t able to retract their foreskin has been circumcised in the last few months, how are you getting on? How long did it take you to fully recover?
Really appreciate all the support and insights!

I’m on week 5 and my head is a little sore and sensitive. But the first 2 weeks. Be ready. It’s gonna be painful. And if u have a gf. Let her know you can’t do nothing for 4-6 weeks
Im guessing it really depends, Im also around week 5 but never really experienced pain except for nighttime erections that hurt, just make sure to take pills daily
There is no fixed timeline for total recovery. It can take from weeks to, in one member’s post, over a year.
Have you tried stretching exercises with a steroid cream?
On week 8 here, going okay, sensitivity becoming less of an issue now. Depending on age & health can take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to properly recover. Worst bits post op for me were nighttime erections that are uncomfortable & stop you sleeping properly, and urine spraying which is still a bit of an issue now even at 8 weeks (slowly improving though).
Would I recommend it? Yes, but it’s not an easy journey!
I’m 4 weeks post surgery, had the pollock technic. I’ve made sure to drink a protein and collagen supplement, taken zinc, vitamin b12, c, d and e, magnesium and fish oil. All my stitches fell out in the last week. With only a wound on the bottom which is keeping moist to aid healing.
Doc is super happy with the progress. Cut out coffee and any foods that might thin my blood a few days before the surgery.
Sensitivity dropped pretty quick but while you’re still using bandages. I used a 10cmx 10cm gauze put Vaseline on it and cupped it around the head. Just remove it to urinate.
Hi dorvil I had the same technique used. I’m only 1 week post op but was wondering if you had ring type swelling as mine is pretty bad and wanna know what I can do to reduce it
Honestly, one day it just started to go down. Somewhere near the end of week two. And in another two days it was nearly all gone. Not sure if I did anything different to help it. But I think you’ve got to expect some swelling we’ve been through something pretty traumatic.
Its different for everyone. Prior to the circ, I had in my mind all sorts of ideas as to how bad it would be. It turned out not to be so bad. Yes. Night time erections can be a pain. During the day as you rub against it with your clothes, while walking it can be a pain for a brief season. (Do not head for the gym right away.) Just take Tylenol or . . . honestly, I would just find a good movie and watch. It would take my mind off of it.
