- A lot of pain early on. Didn't respond well to oxy or any pain meds. Painful erections and extreme suture pain for up to 2 weeks.
- Serious discomfort for another 2 weeks. I kept wrapping my penis in fresh sterile gauze pads and taping with medical tape. I'd use petroleum jelly as well for the dryness. At this point though if my penis was wrapped I was mostly fine to go about my day.
- Kept it wrapped for another 1-2 weeks because of bruising and discomfort, but I was mostly out of the woods with all of that.
It was extremely mild.
- At 6.5 to 7 weeks I had zero pain/bruising.
- My only symptoms at this point are raised bumps and swelling along the scar line, 3/4 inch to 1 inch shorter in erect length, and residual numbness at the tip. The last symptom has recovered the most recently. It feels like my penis is one unit again this past week. I just wish the length and scar would recover faster, but I suppose those tend to take the longest.
I wrote this to detail my experience. The physical aspect of recovery was challenging, but the mental aspect has been far more trying. Be patient and best of luck guys

It definitely takes a while to get used to doesn't it! My experience was pretty similar to yours, it took weeks to get used to it. Now, I wish I'd been circumcised sooner.
Same dude. And I understand how individual it is. For those that maybe did it because of societal pressure, they might regret it more if they lost sensitivity or had other negative outcomes. For myself, my phimosis has tormented me. Despite my best efforts of curing it through stretching, none of it worked. It was get circumcised or never have penetrative sex. Easy choice for me. I legit have more work to recover from the psychological trauma than from the circumcision itself. I never expected to post about this at all, but I'd like to help others who are possibly going through what I did.
Phimosis was definitely becoming more of a problem for me too. Whilst the cancer diagnosis made the circumcision necessary, I'd already made up my mind!
I understand the cultural thing. Growing up in Suffolk, I don't think I'd ever seen a circumcised cock, and I played a lot of sport! But if it's needed for medical reasons, I just can't see the problem.
Initially my GP was convinced that a bit of steroid cream would "melt" my foreskin. About an inch of it, tied up tight like a saveloy.
That's horrible, man. I hope you're recovering from the cancer. One is enough on anyone's plate.
It's weird how much culture can drive it. Conversely, I'm American so everyone knew I was the uncircumcised guy (there are so few of us). I felt if I did get circumcised, I'd then have to explain it. I also played a lot of sports when I was younger. It's a difficult scenario to deal with for any young man I think because there is a stigma either way.
I wish aspects of the recovery were faster, but now that I'm through the worst of it I am feeling more optimistic. It's a new lease on life for me. With continued therapy, I see a bright future ahead.

I’m on week 6. I never expected it to be this much of a mental journey!! I had serious “I can’t walk” pain for 2 weeks, residual pain and sensitivity for 2 more... sutures finally all came out around week 5.
I can finally get hard this week, and while it’s as thick as normal, it’s absolutely an inch or 2 shorter. That said, I still have a ring of swollen skin between the base of my head and my healing suture line on my shaft. The skin of this ring is also so tight I can’t tell where skin ends and head begins, but my doc said it’s not adhering, it’s just “because you’re still healing.”
Does anyone have insight into this ring of swelling? How long before you were actually able to move the remaining skin away from the glans and along the shaft?
Tbh man, it sounds exactly like my remaining symptoms. My skin is swollen in between where he tied the sutures and the glans. I'd say it's flattened out more this week, but it's clearly going to be there a while. Also the length loss is annoying. I feel ya there. I'm still at 0.9 to 1 inch shorter. The tightness in my erections all but disappeared, but the length didn't come back with it yet. If it's not back by 3-4 months, I'm gonna call my urologist to see what he thinks.
All in all, it seems like your swelling is normal but I guess you'd know if something was truly off. If it gets worse or it's abnormally large then maybe it's cause for concern.
I feel like we are having the same problems, mine is almost 4 weeks ang the healing is really good I think, the problem is that my is also look shorter then before and feel so tight when getting hard even the doctor didnt cut much skin
Same dude. It sounds very similar. In rare cases, that swelling you and I have goes down fast. I saw pictures from guys where it flattened quickly, but it's not common imo.
I don't think he did mine too tight either, but I suppose some tightness is inevitable. Since I'm 3+ weeks ahead of you, I'll tell you that gets much better. My dick hardly feels any tightness now, but the length is still shorter. I know my dick couldn't have disappeared, so I expect the length will return.
Stay strong. It's a fucking mental struggle. Dealing with this has been a cakewalk compared to my lifelong battle with phimosis. But it's been difficult at times to continue to be told "you gotta wait it out" lol. That's kinda all that can be done, unless it's infected or getting worse.

Have you noticed that the skin is still basically attached to the shaft? I was under the impression the skin would freely move over the shaft, but it’s still puffy beyond the suture line and doesn’t glide at all; it’s still basically attached to the shaft. Doc just explained it as “you’re still healing,” so presumably it will detach at some point...
Circumcision has healed, but still swollen and i bled out my meatus whilst urinating. When i urinate it isn't normal, slow build up to urine and muscle reflexes that i can't control, i. E. Urge to push out urine.
Erections don't hurt.
Speaking to consultant soon but not an easy recovery at all.
