2 Weeks Post-Circumcision (30YO)

Hi all,

Two weeks ago got circumcised (phimosis, recurrent balantitis, always having to be careful with sex) and seem to be, sensitivity-wise, healing quite well.

I do have two questions:

-My glans is doing the peeling / scabby thing, and obviously looks bad. I've seen different advice on letting it do this vs moisturizing it. Looking for anecdotal advice and whatever will make it not look like this quickest haha.

-As I mentioned I've been feeling pretty good, so 12 days post op I actually excercise (non-contact sport) for 2.5 hours, as advice on excercising also varied quite a bit. In any case, I wrapped it up and went relatively easy, and it mostly felt fine. I do think it may have bled a bit more (based on new small scabs) and maybe swelled a bit but overall no real pain. Am I being irresponsible? Should I hold off longer? My doc basically said 'when I feel up to it' so just trying to gauge what that means.

Sorry for long post. Not sure if it matters, but low & loose cut.

Thanks in advance!

You are nowhere near being healed. You need to take things easy to let it heal and to avoid making the healing period longer or causing other problems. Pain is not the only indicator that all is not well.

We’re all different but I’m a runner and 7 days post circ, am keen to get an idea on returning to my favourite pastime also. Originally had hoped to do this after 2 weeks (surgeon thought it was feasible), but expect it to be 3 weeks now based on experiences so far. I’m doing a few very light exercises - press ups, using resistance band for gentle leg exercises, plus walking a bit, nothing else for now though.

My 3 tests I have to meet to start running/full exercise again:

1) Stitches to have dropped out

2) Swelling gone or significantly reduced

3) Scabs dropped off, wound clearly healing well with no areas of concern.

Only when all 3 have been met will I start running again, think that’ll be 3 weeks post op at earliest.

Not what you're looking for?
