Fresh Circumcision, didn’t wake back up until the surgeon was gone, very confused. *pic*

So I had my circumcision earlier today, I basically went out very quick and stayed out until much after the procedure was done. I was told I would be woken up with the doctor to go over things with me, unfortunately this did not occur. I am very overweight and did not have a chance to look downwards at the results until I returned home and got in front of my mirror. Immediately I noticed two things, the size was significantly smaller and the head was pale, looking as though it isn’t receiving any blood flow.

Now I have read up and see that it is common for the top to develop almost a white film on top of it, but it concerns me that it may not be getting oxygen, especially since if it was a film I believe it would stay as is, but when it shrinks from the cold air in my home it alleviate the issue and the natural pinkish color somewhere returns, it makes me fourth believe it is lack of blood when I consider the following.

My penis is smaller when on the flaccid side, 2.75 inches long and 3.5 inches in girth, this is not including the extra foreskin, this is from base to tip. Erect it is 5.25 inches long and 6 inches in girth. Following my circ, the current flaccid size is just under 1.5 inches long and just over 7 inches in girth. One more clarification the girth isn’t at the tip of the penis, it’s more at the base. I read it’s common to see swelling from the circumcision point up to the tip of the penis, but I don’t have swelling here, my tip actually looks smaller than usual, and the base is what is totally swollen up. I’m not sure if this is possible and it may be a dumb question to ask, but I feel as though the doctor essentially shoved my penis inwards into itself and stitched it shut that way, as I’m missing about half the flaccid length and currently have double the flaccid girth, is this possible at all or am I just being paranoid and will things remedy themselves out as this heals more? I was sent home without knowing any of this, and my doctor is out for the weekend, I feel very concerned and any insight will help. I’ve included a picture of what it looks like, more this is about 20 hours after the procedure. I know it’s hard to see because after the procedure my penis has essentially become nothing, so I’ll clarify everything circled in red in the picture is the girth.

If anyone can give me any explanation on why it’s inconsistently turning pale, and a lot smaller now I would appreciate it, as well as any tips for the healing process.

Were you not given post-op instructions on care when you were discharged - often given be a nurse? You are very early in your process and all parts of the penis can suffer swelling. You have already recognised this. The swelling can give the appearance of less length but that will get better. Do you have a review with your surgeon to come? You will be able to address any issues then. Till then, do not worry and take good care of your penis. Did you have a health problem with your penis before the op and has that now been rectified?

I was just told by the nurse at the time to not take any naps, do a lot of breathing exercises, not to shower for 2 days, and to rub an ointment they gave me on it twice a day. Other than that no insight. After I posted this thread I saw many related ones with people having the same issue, losing inches off their length and never regaining it which really concerns me, since I did not have much length to begin with. I do have a post op in two weeks, we’ll see what my doc says then. As for conditions, I had spontaneously developed phimosis a few months back, never had the problem before, not diabetic, it just kind of appeared out of nowhere one day, the steroidal creams had no effect, so that was the issue that led to the need for the surgery.

I am pleased you have the post op review coming up. Make a list of things you want to ask. That makes sure you do not forget. Some guys get rid of the selling fairly soon and for others they still have issues at a year. I hope you get sorted sooner rather than later. Take care.

The frenulum of the penis contains an artery which is not usually conserved during circumcision. It is therefore likely that there is a change to the penile circulation.

Any idea how long it takes to sort out? I mean everything just feels really tight, and again it feel like my penis just got crammed inwards and sewn shut like that. When I feel around I can feel my whole penis, but it’s like balled up inside the skin

I panicked the first 2 weeks after surgery. When things started to heal and swell down, I started to see normalcy. I was able to pee straight, color came back, and at week 4, stitches started falling out.

From my experience, at this stage. It looks pretty good. And the swelling will be there for awhile. As stated before, make a list of any questions or concerns for you up coming doctor visit.
