The form of anaesthesia will often be what the surgeon prefers.

Hi, look at the postings here to make sure you are making an informed decision about everything.

It's whatever the surgeon wants. Best of luck tho you will be fine. I have had it done and wouldn't rather it any other way. Apart from being done as a child

I had the choice of local or general. Having previously had my frenulum removed with a local (needles in base of penis, lots of tugging about by surgeon and assistant whilst observed by about six scrub nurses in background waiting for next procedure) I felt I knew what to expect so was going to go along with that. My GP smiled at me slightly curiously and said, "You don't want to be awake when they do that, do you?". I thought about it for a second and agreed. In the event it was less of a deal than a visit to the dentist. Good luck whichever way you go.

If the doc is suggesting general anesthesia then go with that. I had general for my circ and I don’t even remember leaving the pre op area and then I was waking up in recovery.

Most times the doctor decides whether to use local or general anesthesia. Also it depends if you’re getting circumcised in a clinic (local will be used) or in a hospital (General). Either way the healing process and end result are the same. Good wishes!

When I got circumcised I was giving local anaesthesia 15 to 20 mins later i was asleep. When I woke up I was already in the recovery room and I didn't feel a thing.

When my son was circumcised he had general anesthesia. But usually the Doctor apply local anaesthesia for circumcision. You can tell the Doctor about your choice,he may agree with you.Whatever it will be,for the betterment of your treatment. All the best.
