Hey everyone. I’m getting circumcised at the end of November. I’ve read about the procedure, but i’m curious about the prep. For those of you who have been circumcised as adults, can you share your experience? Specifically:
1. Do you have to shave or trim your pubic hair? I’ve seen some pics on here where guys have their shaft shaved. Do the nurses do that for you?
2. Do they wash your penis after they put you into sedation? I’m worried about getting an erection during the washing and hope it happens when i’m knocked out.
3. Where do they inject the shot?
4. My doctor also says he will give me an erection to see how much skin to leave on. Does that also happen when you are knocked out?
I don’t mean this to sound kinky or sexual. Just real questions I have that I haven’t really seen answered.
1. My surgeon told me it wasn’t necessary to trim or shave. But, I trimmed anyways!
2. I have NO clue what they did while I was sedated. I’m certain the surgeon gets the area clean and ready for the procedure. Not sure if I got an erection.
3. I was under general anesthesia !
4. Not sure if my surgeon got me hard before the procedure. But, he did show me how much skin he was going to remove and explained why!
1. It is not absolutely necessary to shave or trim your pubes before circumcision. However, it is a good idea to trim them to keep them out of the way of the bandage or wound.
If you are circumcised in a hospital under a general anaesthetic then it is standard OR practice to shave the surgical site.
2. Your penis may, or may not be washed by the nurses. You would normally be expected to come for your procedure having had a bath or shower at home. What will be done is to clean it with an antiseptic wipe. If you are already anaesthetised then you will not get an erection and they are rare under the circumstances anyway.
3. If you are having a general anaesthetic then it will initially be injected into a vein in your arm or back of hand. A local is injected in a ring around the base of your penis.
4. If the doctor is going to induce an erection, it will be done whilst you are asleep with the general anaesthetic.
1. No need to shave these days (just keep it tidy)
2. They’ll likely soak your penis with an antiseptic, if you’re under a general anaesthetic then don’t worry about it
3. Shot for what? General anaesthetic may be a line in the back of your hand or local anaesthetic round the base of the penis
4. Probably, it sounds like a good measure
Hope this helps
Hi Max, I was wondering where you are having the operation done and who is the surgeon? Currently being treated, and prognosis is positive, for LS/BXO however, should circumcision become necessary, I prefer the idea of induced erection to ensure “best fit”. All the best with you research and many thanks.

In California where I live.
Thank you. And the surgeon? I regularly travel to the US , and have friends in SF and Palm Springs, should surgery be necessary. Surgical options in the UK are limited, typically medical as an adult and not focussed on cosmesis.

Im not going to give that information. I don’t want to identify exactly where I live. You can find a good doctor. Ask your friends or do some research like me.
