7 days after circumcision

it’s been 7 days since my circumcision. I had a local anaesthetic.

My night erections are causing me to bleed around my stitches and it’s bleeding during the day.

Over the past two days, I have noticed the bleeding getting slightly heavier but still not huge amounts.

The discomfort is getting less and less.

Did anyone else experience this?

I have googled too much much and I feel like I should have stopped bleeding by now.

The NHS was amazing, but information post surgery is very limited and it’s not managed my expectations.

If I'm not mistaken, a little bit of bleeding is normal, I was told to simply push gauze into the site and hold for a few minutes until it stops... I personally had my circumcision 4 weeks ago today and has slight bleeding from one stitch site up til around the 2 or 3 week mark... I'd say as long as the bleeding doesn't get heavier as time goes on I'd say your fine but if you are worried you could always get it checked out. I know I was worrying about every little thing when I was in the beginning stage but slowly the bleeding got less and less.

I bled from my stitches for a couple weeks until the wound closed up - night time erections were the reason why. Just stay vigilant and look after your fella. If you notice anything untoward then call the doctor.

Thank you!

Luckily things are starting to feel better. Bleeding less and the discomfort for night erections has reduced.

I am definitely looking forward to sleeping through the night tho!

You will - the stitches lose their tensile strength after about two weeks and you'll notice the night boners won't wake you up as much. Then it's just about being patient and healing up - it takes time but when it's feeling normal again you'll love your new willy.

hi, I had slight bleeding at the base of the frenulum where the surgeon seemed to bunch up the stitches for about 4 weeks in total after my surgery.

Once the stitches melted/came out, there was finally a small scab that eventually healed and fell off with no more bleeding, ironically with a night erection.

I just popped a gauze pad into my underwear to catch the blood. It was a tiny amount, although the pad sometimes stuck to the scab and I used hot water to ease it off.

It may have prolonged healing.

If it’s slight bleeding and in general getting less I wouldn’t worry, if it’s a fair bit, get in touch with the nhs.
