Phismosis

Hi,

I’m 38 and for as long as I can remember I’ve always had a foreskin which has not retracted either when erect or flaccid. For many years I wasn’t bothered or effected by this as it did not cause me any pain during intercourse

Recently I began stretching exercises and noticed that very slowly my foreskin started to retract which prompted me to seek further advice from my GP who referred me to a Uroligist.

I spoke with the consultant recently who told me I should abandon the stretching exercises as this would only prove successful in children or teens and may result in a trip to A&E if I continued and encouraged me to get a circumcision.

I’m sceptical of the advice from the urologist as fore mentioned I was having success with the stretching exercises before I consulted him and viewed circumcision as a last resort so was surprised that he didn’t prescribe steroid cream or the like.

I’d be interested in reading your reply whether anyone has been able to fix the problem using stretching techniques or is having the operation the only ‘cure’

If stretching is working for you then keep stretching! You are right, circumcision should be last resort only.

It is not for the forum to contradict your urologist but you may want to see this: coventryrugbygpgateway.nhs....

you are right to view circumcision as last resort.

try different doctor, maybe you'll get the prescription you need.

circumcision is the easiest way (for the doctor and maybe for you), but whatever you do, make sure it's your own choice.

You've already proven him wrong. You've also proven that steroids are not necessary. How much more proof do you need? The method you are employing is commonly and frequently used in plastic surgery for repairing burns and restoring breasts lost to mastectomy. Thousands of men worldwide also use skin expansion to restore foreskins lost to circumcision.
