I'm 32 and having loose lengthy foreskin which irritates me both physically and mentally. I tried to keep my foreskin retracted all the time. I'm doing that as I have some fear for circumcision. Has anyone done it before,What can you suggest?,Whether to undergo circumcision or autocircumcision?

Keeping foreskin retracted all the time (Autocircumcision)
Keeping the foreskin always retracted can increase the risk of developing paraphimosis. This is a condition where the foreskin swells, becomes tight, and can potentially get stuck in the retracted/pulled back position. If paraphimosis occurs, it can act like a tourniquet and can cut off blood circulation to the tip of the penis which can lead to tissue damage. If excess foreskin is irritating you both physically and mentally, I would talk to a healthcare provider about the pros and cons of circumcision in your particular case. Best of luck.
Thank you. I have decided to get consultation with an urologist. I think getting medical advice is important. I have made my mind to get rid of this.
a full circumcision is the way to go….. nothing to be scared of….. you will be so glad you had it done….I love mine… so glad I had it done 😃👍
|Hello Uwansan I was keep my foreskin back when I was 18 and to now 20 years later I'm never had any problems with it! Couple of weeks you must keep it manualy if need and it's a bit feeling horny, because the glans will be sensitive and after you just get acclimatized. There is many advantages you have foreskin but your glans is open, it is clear and sex is better and longer like circumcised person. So I recommend to do this!
I see from a previous post that you are also considering circumcision. I would suggest that you consult a urologist, or at least a general practitioner, to discuss your issues and for the doctor to advise on what might help you. If your foreskin is very long and gets in the way during sexual activity, just retracting may not provide a permanent answer though.
You would not be alone in wanting to keep your foreskin retracted, but not want to have a circumcision, which can lead to loss of sensitivity and a reduction in sexual enjoyment. Take a look at pulledback.org , for advice about techniques and to hear about other mens' experiences.
Think carefully though - retraction is easily reversed (but be aware of the possibility of paraphimosis (see another post here), whereas circumcision is permanent, and you will not get back that skin, or those nerve-endings, if you later change your mind!
Good luck.
As others have said if you are having issues then talk to a health professional about what can be done. Personally although uncut I do think a full circumcision looks great but it’s not the only option. Depending on what issues you are having there are less radical surgery options.
As for foreskin retraction, I’ve kept mine back most of the time for over 30 years. No problems at all. How easy it is and whether you need to use something like a glans ring depends on your penis and glans. There is lots of very good information on pulledback.org. Good luck with it whatever you decide to do.
I had the same issue you have and opted to have a circumcision around 8 years ago. One of the best things I have done and I’ve never looked back. Sex life improved and overall satisfaction increased 10 fold.
I’m not going to sugar coat the recovery as it isn’t nice, but only takes around 2-3 weeks to heal. Waking up in the middle of the night with an erection isn’t a joke, but honestly, it’s worth the hassle of recovery.
You can ask the urologist to make sure they don’t cut it too low then you can still have some skin for sensation. They’ll know what you mean.
Get it done!!
Thank you. That's my preference as well. But as many other men I'm having fear towards the surgical procedure. How are we have to prepare on the day of surgery. I have decided to have an appointment with an urologist. Do they need any special investigations?,I prefer local anaesthesia. If so will there be erections during the procedure?
You’re very brave if you want to do it local. Not sure if they would? I had mine general, knocked me out and woke up with a bandage around it with local anaesthetic so couldn’t feel anything until later that night.
I'm 39 just got my circ 3 weeks ago. Procedure is so easy u don't feel a thing. And the initial injection just feels like a very light pinch doesn't hurt. Even healing doesn't hurt just uncomfortable. But make sure u talk to ur urologist about what kind of cut u want I didn't bcuz I thought they were all the same and got a low cut but would've preferred a high cut. But it's all good. And I'm still healing.
I had mine done just over 3 weeks ago already for me the pain of the erection that was there with the stitches has gone , the erection feels stronger & I don’t have the feeling of a tight band there now the foreskin has gone , Onhad it done under a local on the nhs , some of the stitches are still there , yesterday I started to wear jeans again instead of tracksuit bottoms & drove the wife for an interview, the circumcision for me looks like it’s also added some length when flaccid & no length has been lost on erection , it’s a lowish tight cut but feels good , I’ve not masturbated or had sex yet but so far so good & wish I’d had it done years ago
I completely understand that you are afraid ,I should of gone in March but last minute nerves I backed out BUT I’m so glad I went in October. I had it done under local , count to 7 in your head & the first injection mid line is over , after that two more ,one each side but you won’t feel them as your penis is numb . Don’t overthink the circumcision operation, do what they tell you & keep the bandage on for 48 hrs then remove it & keep it clean & you should be fine. I was told there is a small risk of infection but so far have been fine
Hi, I have been keeping my foreskin fully retracted for the last few years and I have had no problems. I prefer the look and the feel of having an exposed glans rubbing against my undies/clothing all day and against my bedsheets at night as I sleep naked. I have also now started masturbating with my foreskin fully retracted and I don't even use lube. I would definitely give it ago you don't know if you don't try.
I have a short foreskin- so when skinned back it looks like a low-cut circumcision with just some foreskin bunched up behind the glans.
Can't imagine doing either! The foreskin has evolved in us to protect and give comfort. I'm very grateful for mine and from the Ancient Greeks up to modern Europeans men's foreskins have been portrayed artistically with few complaints. If you leave it uncovered, your glans is likely to become hardened and irritated. I humbly suggest you try to change your mindset rather than find a physiological 'solution' to a non-problem.
The decision has to be yours alone, you have done the right thing by asking opinions. But they are just that. My circ' was done under a general so no issue there for me. Recovery took longer than I expected. Overall I think sex was better before but I do think it looks better now.
My surgery was for medical reasons and I would not but myself through that voluntarily but I happy with what I now got. Choose wisely.
I was circumcised 9 months ago & find sex much better now! So does my wife!
The lies...😆 She likes the look of it better, but you lost skin which is thickness. You lost self-lubricating skin which means more friction and drying up - now you need lube that you didn't need before. And foreskin bunches up and acts like a moving cock ring on the shaft. I think when it comes to sex, foreskin vs cut, foreskin is better hands down. 🍌🌶️
used to do this for about 10 years before getting circumcisedI
Question is, how do you keep it back? A sleeve? What exist today that would work effectively. I would not get circumcised unless your dick was about to fall off. You need something that pulls it back and keeps it there when soft, but doesn't injury you during the day. Wrap it? It would all probably fall off. Live with it is likely the answer. Maybe try antibacterial spray and an oil and have lots of sex with it. Women love foreskin sex as it has less friction and is thicker obviously.
Like some other people said before choose wisely. Was circumcised 20 years ago (now in my late 40’s) under general anesthetic and had no complications or very much pain. As for sensation for me has definitely declined over the years. Seems like autocircumcision could be the best of both worlds.
I keep my foreskin back all the time by lodging it under the overhang of my glans. I should mention that I have had a spinal injury for 10 years which has reduced sensation in most of my body, but even before that, I used to keep it back much of the time for the arousing feeling. Before and after my in jury, keeping my glans bare has helped me to keep at least partially erect for much of the day, which has helped me mentally, especially since my injury. I have always worn a pad inside my underwear to soak up any semen and dribbles of urine. This arrangement has worked for me but I understand that some medical practitioners favour keeping the foreskin forward.
I kept my foreskin back for 15 years. I preferred it that way yet at least 3/4 times a day I always had to pull the skin back. 3 weeks ago I decided to go get circumcised. So far so good and very glad I did so. I didn’t have any issues with irritation as the cock head has been used to been exposed.
Never had issue keeping the foreskin retracted
Have had foreskin permanently retracted for about 2 years after trying for a long time. Have considered circumcision in the past but too old for it now as I am 70. Am pleased with retraction as it has improved hygiene and stopped irritation with foreskin. Much better appearance I think as does my wife. Sadly it has not made any difference to my impotence problem but it has still been worth it.
But I think the best way is to get circumcision. I underwent the procedure and it's one of the best decisions I have ever taken.,but you may be too old to tolerate it.
too old and have other health issues so surgery not really an option. Permanent retraction has been best option for me I think. My wife would have been happy if I was circumcised years ago but she agrees retraction is fine.
