Hello everyone.

I really would appreciate any advice here.

Have been deling with ezcema / balanitis /fungus on the glans for 8 month - I dont know what it is. Allready been seing doctors, urolog, skin doctors etc. Tried relevant creams and all that. It wont go away and its driving me crazy. No phimosis, no other diseases and problaly not Zoon balanitis just irritatet redness.

My question is has anyone cured their uspecific balanitis, when they Got circumcised???

Not looking for pro/cons/advice in general just specific experienced for somebody who has tried circumcision as a cure.

All the Best

Have you tried to keep your foreskin retracted for several weeks already? If the redness is on the glans and inner skin, changes on moisture condition may help.

Thanks for answering.

Have tried it and it gives me a lot of relieve, but its impossible for me to go around like this all day.. So I cant really say if it work permanently..?

Too sensitive? Or not stay retracted? Answer to latter is a strip of skin adhesive tape on to base of the shaft.

The sensitivite is bareble now, but yes, it wont stay back, when at work and so.. Have tried tape and maybe I should give it another go..

For sure feels better retracted though, but maybe its just in my mind..

You can use tape to keep the skin back, Duck tape held best for me and tape it back so the foreskin doesn't touch the head. Let the air dry it out completely. Good luck.

Tried it.. Kind of difficult, when active, but in the main perspective it helps a lot..

Thanks for advice..

I had a circumcision because of balanitis. Since having the cut. Not had it. Best choice I’ve made

I cured mine but mine was mostly on the glans. Regret my decision though because I lost alot of sensitivity and my doctor did a bad job but many guys on here seem happy with their choice. Have you done a biopsy? Or a skin scrape? I would ask your dermatologist to conduct those first and if you truly haven't found anything that helps (various lotions, antifungal creams, antibacterial creams, oral anti fungal pill, not cleaning with soap only water etc) I'd go for a circumcision with a skilled doctor.

Thanks for replying.

Happy your cured, but S.. job from the doctor..

Tried most of these things.. Didnt do biopsy or scrape though.. Gotta try the circ then.. Did you try going retracted before getting it done?

CuriousQ profile image
CuriousQ in reply toFreeS

Yeah I'd say mine went from balanitis to mild eczema. I tried keeping it retracted but did nothing. It was red and sticky and the foreskin would not roll over the head without moisturizer due to being sticky.

Sounds exactly like mine.. How long did you baffle with the balanitis? And how long after circumcision did you notice improvement?

2 years. As it was basically only my foreskin that was affected immidiately.

Have u tried a antihistimine tablet? For irritation. Also Derma V10 cream avail at savers is a soothing emollient. Worth a try.

No, I havent.. Stopped using all kind of medicin, because honestly I think it might be the cause.. But allways open to research, so I will check it out..

Yes ,it is true. It is shown that excess antifungals cream cause inflammation. All products have additives, preservatives, etc. that used in access destroy skin barriers and affects the normal flora with the installation of opportunistic bacteria, which are difficult to treat

The exact cause which produces this inflammation must be discovered from the beginning. If time passes the problem persists and it is difficult to treat. I see that doctors around the world do not treat this problem correctly. Prescribe everything that comes to mind. Start with antifungals (but it may not necessarily be a fungus), then if it doesn't work I prescribe antibiotics, if they don't work, prescribe cortisone. I read many forums and saw the same pattern of treatment all over the world. I think this approach is deeply wrong.

I agree with you totally..

I wish I had known this before trying all those creams.. The best improvement I had is today, because I havent used anything other the natural remedies the last month..

Its a terrible approach from doctors.. They may have good intentions, but they are actually causing the issue and creating new problems..

Thanks for replying..

Hi. I've been struggling to treat balanitis for years. I was seen by several doctors, and I made the same mistakes as everyone here. I believe that nothing could be done. I think that once the skin barriers is destroyed, it never recovers, probably only by circumcision when by keratinization the skin changes its structure again and inflammation disappears. Or maybe the problem can be solved by a super dedicated doctor. But where is this doctor? I also did bacterial cultures taken after the glans. Some time ago I found out that I had a penis colonized with Enterobacter. 5-6 months ago I took the test again and Klebsiella came out. What caught my attention was that these bacteria, although redoubtable, were sensitive to all known antibiotics.,opportunistic bacteria not necessarily very pathogenic which is installed on an already affected skin. I took several antibiotics but without any improvement. I read that you can't get rid of these bacteria, they are on our skin and become possible pathogens when they find conditions. I also tried creams like Terrasil, Suragel, Banival. Banival seemed the best to me. But must be used with care no more than 3 weeks. I had the impression that I would get over the problem with this Banival. But the doctor who import it didn't tell me I had to use it limited time

I used it too long, and it wasn't good. I found something interesting.,to sink our glans penis for 5 minutes in povidone iodine solution prepared according to the Japanese method- 1 ml of iodine povidone per 40 ml ser (water). I've been doing this for a few days and I see an improvement.

Iodine solution used twice a day, morning and evening for 14 to 28 days.

Well.. Thats an interesting approach..

I dont know lodine, but can tell its not containing steroids which is good..

I see you done your research, but damn its complicated to solve regardless..

You havent considered circumcision at one point?

Hi. Yes, it's very difficult. I ordered something like this from China, but unfortunately it hasn't arrived yet (shipments stopped due to the coronavirus crisis). I tried to stay with the gland exposed to the air but it is difficult especially when you get dressed and try to walk. I looked for a device and found something like this in China. it can also be found on Ebay at a low price.

Yes, its really a pain to do it, when you are active and working.. It dosnt seem to work for me unfortunaly..

Could be nice to see the effect before deciding to get cut..

I was circumcised for recurrent balanitis and it has stopped it. I'm very happy with the decision and wish I'd done it years ago.

Hi. Stop using any remedy, even natural. It doesn't help at all, it really gives a certain feeling of better but the problem is not solved. I tried EVERYTHING. These oils and other natural (in fact they are certainly not natural) creams they do nothing but suffocate the cells, from time to time giving a false feeling of better. After years of experience with balanitis I have the following recommendations. Change your underwear daily. Whenever it is possible to stay with the glans exposed to the air. Do not let the urine reach the glans. the drops left after urination should be absorbed with a toilet paper, or even better something sterile. Do not touch the glans if you are not washing your hands. Please give credit to povidone iodine treatment. 1 ml of povidone iodine 10% diluted in about 40 ml of water (the water should be boiled and then cooled), or better 2 ml of 10% povidone iodine in about 80 ml wather to better immerse the penis in solution. Stay with the glans exposed for at least 5 minutes up to 10 minutes in the prepared solution, in the morning and in the evening minimum 14 days. Solution is prepared each time, after it is used, it is thrown away and a new one is prepared. Do not use the same solution twice. Then do not dry with a hair dryer. Pull the skin back over the glans and continue daily activity. Iodine attacks any microscopic form (fungi, bacteria, viruses),and the most important In the above concentration it is shown that it does not produce human cell lysis (destruction). I documented myself very well. I started this treatment on June 1st, I noticed an improvement. I don't feel the burning sensation, and the appearance of the glans is much better. I am preparing a solution in a glass that I wash and I pass it through the fire a little. Try this option, you have nothing to lose.

How are you? How did you do with povidone iodine? You are better?

Hi I’m having issues with balanitis too. My balanitis is due to thrush caused by diabetes. Anti fungal cream is controlling it just now. Previously when I stopped the cream the balanitis came back within days. I’m 2 months into a 3 month course of anti fungal cream just now. I have been told that if it comes back after this I may need to be circumcised. What is happening or has happened to you since posting?
