What to expect at Urology appointment

Hi I've been on here for a while and after reading a fair amount of posts I've worked out I definitely have a short frenulum. Unrelated a few months back I noticed that my pee was often like a coke sort of colour and definitely had blood in it (dabbed on tissue) so I stopped ignoring my symptoms and booked an appointment with a urologist. I've never been to a urologist before can anyone tell me what to expect as it's this coming Thursday and I dont now why but the nerves have really kicked in. Also even though the appointment is not to talk about a frenulum problem, would it be ok to bring that up or would I need to make a seperate appointment. Thanks

I was nervous too but it's their job to look and they have probably seen more penis than a prostitute. Nothing to worry about at all, I was made to lie down on a bed and pull my trousers down, a curtain was around the bed and the urologist only came to look when I was ready. They examine the penis while wearing gloves and the consultant I saw knew what the problem was. Overall any problem is better to get checked out with your penis, being nervous is natural. I don't know if it will be exactly like that for you as your problem is different to mine. It wouldn't harm mentioning other concerns while you are there - consultants get paid a fair whack so that time is valuable, make the most of it.

Hi there, Nothing to be worried about man It's important to have it checked with your symptoms. It's their job to investigate these things. Even though we do not like having these things done sometimes you just have to go and do it. They will examine you and you probably will have to return for more test. Tell them about all of your symptoms And even your concerns about your frenulum.

All the best and don't worry.

I have to agree. Get the most out of the consultant - perhaps along the lines of “As you are examining it, do you think my frenulum is too short”. You may have to have a urine test and possibly an ultrasound. Blood in the urine can sometimes indicate a kidney problem or something between there and the end of your penis.

Hi guys thanks for the replies. Now I've been I don't know why I was worried, I was in and out within 20 minutes with a referral to the kidney specialist and an appointment for a frenuloplasty

As far as your short fren goes a frenulplasty will make things 1000x better for you i had one a few months ago and the difference it made to everything was amazing. 9 times out of 10 frenulum issues can be fixed with this procedure and rarely need circumcisions after.
