10 weeks after surgery and I still can't touch my glans

It has been 2 and a half months and I still put gauzes on my penis. I can't even touch it, it's so hypersensitive and it puts me down. I feel like I am not going to engage in sexual activities again.

Please help

I’m 2 weeks post surgery and having similar problems. Pee hole can’t touch anything without bad pain.

What have you done to try and reduce sensitivity? Baths ? Vaseline?

Out of curiosity, had your penis head never been exposed before you got circumcised? If it’s gone your entire life without direct stimulation, it’s going to take time for it to learn to tolerate and process that kind of nervous input

Yeah that’s definitely the case with me I’m just trying to make the desensitizing process as quick as possible. Kinda scary that there’s people saying it takes months

That’s nothing to be scared of man. I understand impatience but there’s nothing to fear. It’s not gonna fall off from lack of use. It’s just that the nerve endings are not adapted yet. Imagine opening your eyes for the first time after them being closed for 20+ yrs, there will be a period of hyper sensitivity and adjustment and it may take some time. But hundreds of millions of men over time have been circumcised and the vast majority have ultimately made their way out of it with functional penises

Thanks man, any tips on how to decrease the hypersensitivity from your experience (if you had this experience)

I haven’t gotten circumcised yet but I trained my foreskin permanently back about 20 yrs, so I remember having to desensitize over time. But my dad made us pull our foreskins back before starting elementary school so my penis head didn’t go all those years unstimulated like yours. Honestly just rubbing on underwear is what helped mine acclimate, I don’t have any special advice. Some crazy guys will tell your to soak your helmet in alcohol and stuff but that would cause unnecessary pain on your part

try using a local anesthetic spray or delay spray from ebay/amazon

you don't understand how this works,it dull the sensitivity allowing contact with clothing

For me atm, my glans are just too sensitive to come into contact with clothing. I smear a cotton cup with Vaseline and put it under my underwear. Will this lengthen the recovery process?

what you are doing at the moment will lengthen recovery but a quick spray of anesthetic will numb the glans and allow contact with clothing. It wears off slowly and you get used to touching clothes.Microfibre /nylon briefs are better than cotton at this time.

All this is based on my experience, what worked for me might not work for you

It feels uncomfortable when my glans rubs off the pad even with the Vaseline, surely this will help reduce sensitivity like it’s still coming into contact with something ?

If you're getting a bit of discomfort then it's helping to get rid of the sensitivity

I second Cirkdone's advice. When the glans is dry, its way less sensitive than moist. Trying to baby it is somewhat counter productive.

For my adjustment period, I clenched my fists and teeth for the couple weeks and I eventually got used to it. Freeball in lounge pants as often as you can.

i Just don’t think I can come into contact with clothing atm because of the hypersensitivity. Surely the sensitivity will decrease gradually even if I use Vaseline when wearing pants ?

Try with and without and see which works for you, although I still say, be dry.

Your situation should gradually improve. Just so you know, the above comment is a huge generalisation. I have been circumcised since infancy. I am now 44 and my glans penis is not calloused or leathery. I also have lots of very nice sensitivity. My sons were circumcised as babies. They are now 16 & 12 and their glans penises are not calloused or leathery. Also, their glans penises are not pale pink but a deep purple colour and very shiny.

Being naked makes a difference. I actually sleep naked because it is so much more comfortable to me and my glans is very smooth too. Coconut oil helps keep it smooth.

in reply toAt1012

I never really use oil on it and it’s perfectly smooth. I sleep naked too though I’m but sure what difference it makes.

Informative as it is, how does that cut and paste short lecture actually help the original poster with his problem?

It is completely condescending actually.

“This is a well-known result of circumcision. Your surgeon should have informed you of this.” Does not help.

“This should be considered before granting consent for circumcision. Circumcision should be reserved as a treatment of last resort to be used only after all other treatments have failed.” You weren’t there so you don’t know what was considered and what other treatments may have been tried. This doesn’t help the poster with his problem now.

“The color of the glans in Caucasians changes from a purple tint to a pale pink as it becomes keratinized and desensitized after circumcision. It also loses its glossy, shiny appearance and develops a more matte finish.” This isn’t even relevant to the post and is therefore of no assistance with OP’s temporary sensitivity issue.

Overall your text implies ‘serves you right, you’ve been an idiot’. I don’t think that’s fair or appropriate, what do others think?

in reply to

I agree. It is important that facts are pointed out when relevant. But there is no point in making someone feel worse by scaremongering. And some of the statements are not facts in every case anyway (see my reply).

in reply to

This guys responses really piss me off even if he is the moderator. He basically says that if you have a circumcision due to medical reasons that you don’t have any right to have a cosmetically pleasing result. If you don’t want to be butchered then you have to go private. He seems like he has a big chip on his shoulders. I came onto this site for reassurance because I was told that I may need to be circumcised but now I’m absolutely shitting my self because the only place close to me that does a private circumcision charges about £2300.00 which I can’t afford. My only option is on the NHS. How do you think I feel being told as long as my foreskin is removed who cares how it looks or feels afterwards.

in reply to

Mine was done at a local NHS hospital and I couldn’t have hoped for a better result. My surgeon certainly knew what he was doing and I had none of the issues so often reported on here, (many of which appear to have been done privately). Your anxiety is normal. However, just like private school education, just because you pay for it doesn’t mean the outcome is any better.

in reply to

That’s good to hear. Thanks when did you get circumcised?
