The amount of sensation you might loose isn't that much and it should even intensify orgasms. Before I was circumcised, I started keeping the foreskin retracted and it really improved everything. Be forewarned. Once you start retracting it on a regular basis, you'll notice how much better it feels, and you'll want it to stay that way all the time. Then you'll start thinking about getting circumcised. That is what happened to me, and now after the circumcision, the feeling of the exposed glans is awesome, and orgasms are more much intense. I would never want to go back!

Why you decided to keep your foreskin back then mate?
Don't be too concerned about it. Start slowly, and don't keep the foreskin retracted all the time at first. Do it for short periods of time, and then give it rest. The glans needs to gradually get used to being exposed. Once that happens the sensation will be great. It could take months for the glans to adjust. If you do decide to get circumcised, and you might, once you experience how great it feels to have the glans exposed, you will be prepared for it. Chances are, you will want to get circumcised.

You don't get unwanted erections just because your glans is not covered. As someone really said it depends on how horny a person you are. I usually sleep with a South Indian dhoti with no underwear at night. I initially got erections the moment I wear a dhoti without underwear, but now it's all fine even foreskin rolled back. I only get an erection when I am horny and precum oozes out.
I found having a foreskin to be really annoying too, mine was on the long. A high loose circumcision took care of the problem, and I couldn't be happier.

I kept my foreskin retracted or attempted to keep it retracted for years starting at age 8 or 9. My glans didn't have the sensitivity issue as most have described but rather an itch issue. Your comment was the first to remark about the itch issue. I just thought it was me.
Hi. I've been keeping my foreskin retracted most of the time for over 30 years as I started in my teens.
Whether you choose to do it really depends on your own personal view and feelings. You will have some reduction in sensitivity on the glans. For many people, including me, this has been beneficial. I last longer, don't have any discomfort and have found that my orgasms are 'deeper'. It will take you longer to cum but I don't see this as a bad thing.
If you do decide to try it then it will feel sensitive to begin with and there are a few things that might happen. If the skin gets a trapped and there's a bit of swelling of the foreskin behind your glans then pull the skin back straight away. Wait until the swelling has gone before retracting again. This only happened to me once when I first started but I know some people have more of a problem. Secondly you may find that there is some peeling of the skin on the glans. This is just the glans adjusting to the 'outside world.
Keeping the foreskin back is the biggest issue most guys face and if you decide to do it then a few hints. If you have a glans with a flared corona (the bottom bit of the glans next to where the inner foreskin starts) then you may be able to simply push it back. If it comes back over then just take the next opportunity to retract it. It will soon bet used to this and sit behind the glans. If you struggle with this there are various ways of keeping it back including folding the foreskin in on itself or using some sort of ring. Also its always a good idea to either shave or trim your pubes very short as getting one caught under the foreskin can be painful. puuledback.org is a good source of lots of advice.
My experience from talking to others and first hand observation on naturist beaches is that its more common than you might think. If its for you then patience will be necessary. If not you can simply pull back to clean.

That's the worry many guys have. In reality its often far more sexual when people have swimwear on. It does happen but as long as you don't wave it everybody's face it isn't an issue. I do a good application of sun cream all over after my morning shower then top up during the day. Always avoid burning. I know a few people that have suffered form too much sun and paid the price horribly later in life.

This is really interesting. Having been circumcised as an infant I’ve always been a bit intrigued about people keeping their foreskin back and whether it’s normal for it to stay back or whether it’s more likely that the foreskin will automatically return and cover the glans penis. From the men I’ve talked to it seems to be about 50:50.

I'd say that that's not too far out. It possibly depends when the retraction starts. I don't remember a time when I couldn't fully retract my foreskin but for some guys it doesn't happen until later. I know I liked the sensation when I did it. Shape and relative size of the glans and length of the foreskin could also play a part I think.
Also when I was quite young my dad told me to retract when peeing as it would improve the aim. In my teens I started to leave it back more and more. Its interesting to know your glans were sensitive at 63 too, I thought it wears out with age even without keeping foreskin rolled back.. but glad you did not go for circumcision. I lost my hypersensitivity at 31 when I started to leave my foreskin rolled back all the time. After many years now that keeping it rolled back is the new normal. I don't even realise it sometimes. Yep been doing it for over 2 years now and I in my 40s, also had my frenulum removed earlier this year as it was tight, it takes a few weeks getting use but after that is normal, for me it was to try and desensitised my glans as they were very sensitive, also make going to toilet a little easier for me as don’t have to pull foreskin back anymore, I didn’t want to get circumcised as my foreskin isn’t tight and if knob need sensitivity back just Foreskin forward for a day or so , but it will stay back if you persist with it, good luck with it

I've heard this a lot, that the 'scar' area is the most sensitive. I guess the sensations come form nerves under the skin and the actual frenulum is just stimulating them in those of us with ours intact. When removed the stimulation would be more direct. Does that make sense?

I've been keeping mine retracted for a long time now.
1) looks better as it resembles a loose circ.
2) Cleaner since there is no smegma.
3) Penis is slightly larger in the flaccid state due to the air on the bare glans.
4) Wife likes since sex and BJ's can be more spontanious without waiting for me to wash and her losing the mood.
Sensitivity at first was an issue but in no time subsided My only real problem was getting it to stay back.

My foreskin never blocked anything. What I notice another circumcision was with the phimotic ring gone the flow of everything was much smoother.
I do not agree with your "intactivist" assessment: he's basically advocating for the penis in its natural state. I disagree with your notion that cutting off erogenous skin translates to more pleasure. The exposed head will become less sensitive and numb, especially as you age. Don't get me wrong, when medically necessary, circumcisions are good; however, removal of the foreskin is not a panacea and the foreskin removal infatuation is simply a circumcision fetish.

It's been two years since my first circumcision and it's gets better every day. The texture of the skin on the surface of the glans has changed, allowing for more intense and longer lasting orgasms. Oral sex is improved from being unbearable to extremely pleasurable do to just the right amount sensitivity from the glans being exposed rather than covered with skin. The second circumcision six months ago improved things even more with the frenulum being released right where it meets the glans and the removal of more outer foreskin and shaft skin as well. I know an individual who is on his third re-circumcision and I have doubts about his assessment that less is more - ultimately, I fear he suffers from a circumcision fetish. Especially, when I contrast his experience with my university friend who was circumcised at birth. He struggles with masterbation, requiring gobs of silicon lube and death-grip strokes to achieve climax, and his penile-sensitivity is limited to his urethra and circumcision scar. Surgeries have consequences and I maintain that circumcisions should only be pursued when medically necessary at the age of consent.

Keeping it retracted is great perpetration for when you do get circumcised. It makes the adjustment very smooth. If you keep it retracted often enough, you'll want to get circumcised. It happened to me like that, and many other guys have said the same thing.

Not really. Over the years it’s kind of atrophied and shrunk from lack of use. I’m long but not thick in the shaft, but wide in the penis head, so even if I force it over the rim, it just pops back once I let go.

I think I got lucky with genetics, short foreskin/wide mushroom seems to run in the family. But it could be bc our pediatrician (ignorantly) told our dad that our foreskins needed to be retracted when we were still really young, and in my case he accidentally ripped my frenulum when i was around 5 or so. So I think that combined with my natural shape made it easier than I’ve heard with some guys
I've had mine retracted for most of the last 30 years. I do sometimes go through short periods where I let it cover the head but fells so much better uncovered that I do end up pulling it back again. I have reasonable ridge around my glans and this certainly helps with keeping the skin back. I don't think mine has shrunk over the years and will occasionally return to cover the glans when it's cold or I've been sitting for a long time (at work for instance). I just pull it back again when convenient.
I have had some reduced sensitivity but this is good as sex/masturbation last longer and the orgasm is much more intense with the foreskin fully retracted and stimulation direct to the glans and inner foreskin.
Also don't get any smegma or smells when forekin is retracted.
Keep using it. What ever it takes. Viagra can be taken just for erections, to keep things healthy. A good vacuum pump like the Encore every so often also helps. It's like exercising, so keep working at it.
Does it cause the foreskin to shrink over time. I once heard of a case of someone getting auto circumcised. This is where they forcibly retract the foreskin at a very young age such that it doesn’t grow and as a result it could end up looking like a penis with such a short foreskin that it could lead to tight erections. Well I’ve only been retracted for about 20 yes but short answer is yes, it does cause it to “shrink.” I don’t mean that in the sense that there is literally less skin, but it used to cover about 60-70% of my penis head and now it seems to have atrophied into wrinkles bc it’s just been tucked back so long. If I use my hand to pull it over the ridge of my helmet it will only stay as long as my hand is there and then just reverts back the second there’s isn’t any pressure keeping it in place.
As for being autocircumcised to the extent that it causes tightness I think you’re referring to paraphimosis. I’ve never had that issue thankfully but I can see how it could easily happen with someone who had a narrow foreskin
Welll, I can speak to both sides. I was uncircumcised forever until this summer. Always had it covered, it’s what I was use to. Never had intent to keep it exposed unless for “ your occasional reliefs” lol

Yea, but wouldn’t the exposed frenulum area become less sensitive over time? Think about it. The frenulum protects the nerve endings from losing sensation.
Don't worry about keeping your foreskin retracted and head exposed. I don't recommend doing it for long periods as long as you have no other ptoblems. I have noticed it I have my cochlear exposed for to long there is less feeling when I wank.

Back in October I was reading forums just like this and decided to leave my foreskin retracted for one night. Since then I've had major erectile dysfunction.
Some of you may have loose foreskins that would be fine, but DO NOT take the risk.
Maybe if you want to try what it feels like then do it for 15 minutes, but nothing more. I'm 28 and have to live my life knowing that I will probably be alone forever due to such forums as this.
Just don't take the risk of your future - sadly it's too late for me, I wish someone had posted a comment like this to save me in time ☹️.

Everyone's foreskin is different. Mine was tight and leaving it overnight has caused permanent damage. Others may do the same and have no consequences whatsoever.
But why take the risk? I wish someone had posted a comment like this for me to read.
As I said, if you want to see how it feels then try it for 10-15 minutes, but don't do what I did and leave it overnight.
I'm just trying to save a life - what's happened to me has left me feeling suicidal some days. My life plan of family and kids is now pretty much gone. I have to use 100mg sidenefil to get a strong enough erection.

It all worked fine one day, then suddenly after leaving the foreskin retracted after one night it all stopped. Nothing at night, nothing during the day. Please don't read forums, speak to a medical professional before trying this, they will say the same as me - don't do it.
I'm guessing I didn't have a full blown paraphimosis, but I probably gave myself a mild paraphimosis which has caused major problems.
Just don't mess around down there, there's really nothing to gain but so much to lose.

I was the reverse. Couldn't pull my skin completely back. I learned to pee and masturbate with it covered since pre-youth. After it was cut, I went commando after the bandages were off for a few months. The head sensitivity in my briefs about dropped me to my knees. Now I hardly notice it. It desensitizes the nerves after exposed long enough. Harder to get erections and orgams. Oh well. Focus is the key!

Joker rings are available from eBay for not much money. I’ve got one and it’s great for winter when mine “shrivels up” and hides inside its foreskin

It does reduce sensitivity to an extent that you can touch your glans without having a tingly feeling. I was so sensitive to the extent that I would get an erection if I slept without underwear without even keeping foreskin retracting. I started masturbating at 14 my foreskin was way too tight and would never roll back. So my masturbation technique was very different by rubbing against my underwear. This continued for years. A few years later with practice I was able to retract my foreskin when flaccid. Then slowly I started practicing to retract it when I pee. I used to cum pretty soon so I read somewhere that leaving foreskin Rolled back would reduce sensitivity. So I started practicing it, initially I used to get erect when it rubbed with my clothes and Super tingly feeling. I had the swelling problem around the glans as many reported. But with little practice all that went away. Slowly my foreskin would stay back even when fully erect. I started leaving it rolled back all the time, initially it was difficult. I started practicing only during the night. I used to wear loose clothes to help the cause. You have to keep pulling back every once in a while. Then I graduated to doing it during the day with underwear. Now after a few years it stays back. Hypersensitivity is gone, but I still enjoy sec with my wife, enjoy masturbation. Before I was cut, I kept my head exposed. That was good for me. However, you need to make that decision for you. Remember, one size doesn’t work for all. Do what feels right for you.

At the age of 12 my mother took me to the doctor to have my foreskin circumcised. Instead the doctor performed a "Dilation" procedure and bandage my foreskin in the retracted position with the instructions to "Keep your foreskin retracted so that adhesions do not form."

Leave it as it is. Some guys have long foreskins, some have short ones. When I’m erect mine looks circumcised as my foreskin is naturally short and I have a large ridged glans.

As long as there is no pain and importantly no abnormal swelling, you should be ok.
When I was uncut I tried to keep it back but it wouldn’t stay. I guess depends how big your head is. Now that I’m cut well it’s exposed all the time looks better.

Covered by its own foreskin, the tip of the penis retains most of its sensitivity. Left uncovered, some of the sensitivity and pleasure sensations in the penis fade, a little. My own favourite would be to leave it covered, as long as you are still able to clean beneath the foreskin whenever you choose, without struggling to pull back the foreskin.

I am 54 years old and have kept my foreskin permanently retracted since I was about twelve years old. My foreskin is perfectly loose but has shrunk somewhat and retracted is the default position. If it eve slips forward, it soon retracts again quite naturally.

Have you been keeping your foreskin back since you posted this? Why do you want to keep your foreskin back? It would be like being circumcised and the glans will dry out, the skin on the glans will thicken and you could loose sensation permanently. Why not just retract it for peeing, washing and sex etc? I love my foreskin and since getting reoccurring balanitis I’m trying everything in my power to keep my foreskin. Only recently I have been retracting to pee. I have held my foreskin back tight and my wife said she prefers to play with my foreskin. I think the doctors have given you bad advice unless there is a reason to keep it retracted.

I suffered from recurring balanitis and the dermatologist I saw in February this year recommended I keep the foreskin retracted as much as possible to help. As we have been in Lockdown since March I was able to keep it fully retracted pretty much permanently and the balanitis went away. After I'd kept it retracted for a couple of weeks I noticed that the glans seemed bigger (my wife thought the same). There was no loss of sensitivity for me during sex.
However, earlier this month I was circumcised for medical reasons.

Hi Fritz19, I’m at the early stages of my reoccurring balanitis. I got my first infection in October this year . I was given antibiotics and this did nothing then I got a steroid anti fungal cream. This cleared it up in a couple of days. After 5days I stopped using this cream and immediately the next day the infection came back. I was told to use the cream again for 2 weeks. This cleared it up. When I stopped using the cream I thought that was it gone but after 2 weeks it came back again. The doctor I got this time gave me a different stronger steroid anti fungal cream I was told to use this for 3 weeks then immediately go onto a plain anti fungal cream for 3 months. I am 3.5 weeks into the plain anti fungal cream and all is good so far. I was told by the doctor if It doesn’t clear up after the 3 months I may need to be circumcised. I have been panicking ever since as I really don’t want to be circumcised.I have started to retract my foreskin when peeing so that the urine doesn’t get under my foreskin. I can’t keep my foreskin retracted it just keeps coming forward again. (I am overweight an my penis keeps retracting into my pubic fat) . I don’t see how circumcision would help me with my penis retracting like this because if they remove enough foreskin to keep my glans exposed I wouldn’t have enough skin to let me get a full erection. Please tell me your story either here or pm me. I interested in other peoples stories to see if I can get tips from them.

The reason the doctor told me to keep my foreskin retracted the whole time is that the balanitis kept coming back. The first couple of weeks were difficult and I kept having to readjust myself but after that it generally stayed retracted except in the hours after sex when more adjustment was needed.
I used compression shorts to keep everything in place for the first month. Not sure why you would want to stop retracting your foreskin as the balanitis is then more likely to come back.
I didn’t notice any decrease in sensitivity in the long term, actually the reverse, but everyone is different. I’d suggest you give it a go for at least a little while to see how you go. It should definitely help with the balanitis.

I keep my foreskin pulled forward all the time, except for sex, masturbating and cleaning the inner foreskin and glans (penis head) in the shower. I tried keeping it pulled back a few times, but I lasted less than 2 minutes. The foreskin is there to protect the glans (penis head), so it makes sense it should be covering the glans at all times, except when you want it out.

I'm afraid you misunderstood me. When I say I didn't last 2 minutes, I meant the sensation caused by having my glans exposed to the air was unpleasant. My foreskin stays back when I have an erection and is pretty good at staying back when I'm soft, though that matter is precarious.Also, the foreskin is not a birth defect that has to automatically be removed or contended with if kept, beyond normal personal hygiene.
I'm uncut and love my foreskin, it naturally covers the glans. I never have a problem with retraction. The skin easily retracts and is elastic probably due to the moisturizing lube (coconut oil) I sometimes use when masturbating. Most of the time I use water based Astroglide. My foreskin is pulled back several times a day for showering and urination. Like others who replied to you, I don't understand your doctor's advice to keep the glans uncovered. Is he uncut?
