Bladder instillation of Hyacyst

It has been 5 months since I started having symptoms of UTIs and sore vulva area. I’ve been prescribed antibiotics several times but symptoms only decrease for a few days and start again in each course. As antibiotics are not working, Gyn and Urogyn agreed on having bladder instillation with Hyacyst ( Hyaluronic acid gel) 1 a week for four weeks and then 1 a month per two months. Nurse told me that waiting list is long but she can teach me how to do it myself. My question here is do any of you have any experience? Is it painful? Would I be able to work right after the procedure? Any advise will be much appreciated. Thanks

hi - look up estrogen gel / cream for vaginal soreness and UTIs. Advice from a friend of mine rather than direct experience 👍. She said it completely sorted her out .

I agree, same thing worked for me. I take a vagifem pessary twice a week and steroid cream.

Thanks for talking time to reply. I wish the vagina oestrogen worked for me. Gp prescribed Estriol cream 4months ago. Usual treatment of daily for 2weeks and then twice a week forever. At first thought this could be the magic solution as I felt a bit better for a few days. Then I start bleeding with large clots of blood. A hysteroscopy ruled out any malignancy but over oestrogenic stimulation reaction due to HRT, not the vaginal cream. I stopped HRT altogether since November and since then my bleeding and heavy periods cramps stopped. A big relief but I had to gave up HRT for now. However the painful bladder and UTI symptoms persist badly. As many women with this or similar condition I touched the bottom rock and rised myself like a rollercoaster, trying to accept this with the hope of getting better. Thus, investigations are still going, by NHS and privately due to not being referred by GP to urologist or gynaecologist. So I’m now prescribed Hyacyst instillations and I feel anxious as the idea of having those with my current pain is scary. As this is through NHS there is a big waiting list. The nurse told that she can show me how to perform the bladder instillations this myself, so I can start the treatment next week. If any of you have or have similar experience? Thanks so much for your support.

I see! Thanks for clarifying. VA is being diagnosed and Estradiol vaginal tablets prescribed. Lichen Sclerosis has been ruled out.
