which do people find most effective at preventing angiodema/urticaria flares (partic around eyes, but also in gen)? Studies online seem to suggest cetirizine is more effective but specialists often prescribe fexo so I’m confused. Also does anyone combine them daily, and long term? And has anyone found that one used to work for them but stopped working so they switched and it was effective? Thank you!

fexofenadine v cetirizine

It’s great that you’re looking into this thoroughly! You’re right that cetirizine is often considered more effective for some with angioedema/urticaria, especially when flare-ups are more frequent or severe. However, fexofenadine (fexo) is another popular option that specialists often prescribe due to its more specific targeting of histamine receptors, which can make it a better fit for some people.
As for combining them—many people use a combination under a doctor’s guidance, but it’s important to check with your specialist first to make sure that’s safe and effective for your specific case. Some folks do find that one antihistamine works well initially and then seems less effective over time, so switching to another might help.
I found a free eBook that discusses natural remedies and some approaches for managing flare-ups might be worth a read alongside your treatments: bit.ly/3G6Rb56
Hope that helps!
