HRT and Fibroid growth?

hello just a quick one, do fibroids start growing again after menopause if you take HRT. Got 1 fibroid and a bulky uterus, not causing any problems now I’m 2 yrs post menopause. Wondering whether taking oestrogen and progesterone starts them off again? Would love to know if anyone has experience of having fibroids and being on HRT.

thank you for asking this question. I’m in the same boat so I would be really interested in the experience of other women with fibroids and whether HRT is appropriate.

depends where fibroid is and what type of hrt.

oh right, so a posterior submucosal 10cm. So I assumed the HRT would be Progesterone and Oestrogen because still have a uterus. Does the type as in patch, gel, pill or brand change the outcome?

I’ve got a fibroid inside the womb. Gp put me on a cyclic hrt (normal for peri menopausal women) but my gynaecologist stopped script. Hrt was definitely aggravating it.

I knew this as each period (which was normally heavy) turned into totally unmanageable after starting hrt.

My sister (unfortunately) needs a hysterectomy after hrt over covid (she has same fibroids as me). Covid meant no appts or any gynaecology input. It was just left to get worse. She now looks 8 months pregnant.

No. My consultant says they need to reduce thyroid and then a coil and changes to her cycle.
