Well the weather was horrendous and it absolutely bounced down then from nowhere the sun came out. Heaton Park is a tough course with a killer hill but I'm glad I did it and came in at 2hrs 38

Heaton park half marathon
Congratulations Tessie66 !
Absolutely brilliant Tessie66 ! You deserve to be so proud of yourself. Super run. Super bling! Super warm up for Manchester next year! β€οΈ
Thank you I'm so proud because it's been an amazing journey and one that started with me struggling to run a 100 yards. I've also been running with a injury but I was determined to do this. My heel is so painful I can hardly stand on it
So you got your taper just right Tessie66!
Well done; a really good HM despite the weather and killer hill, and a great experience which will feed into your future races. You have come a long way in a short time.π₯πππππ
Wow congratulations! That will have been a mental battle as much as a physical one. Yes, it's great prep for Manchester, but first take some time to soak up this achievement - it's a big one. Good looking bling too!!!
(I immediately noticed you both wore your bibs on the front!)
Both went front in the end ,I also got a pb for 10k while running the half marathon today
The mental battle definitely when you look around and you're the oldest or seemed like it. I kept talking to myself and telling myself I will and can do this. Other runners are a great help though
No way will you be the oldest (unless you made a mistake in your bio!).
Having said that, I just checked the results and there were 10 in your category (and just 3 females in the same age category) and only five in the next male age category, out of a field of almost 370. That does suggest a pretty young field. Indeed I should have entered - I could have been 1 of 1 in my age cat and the oldest female on the course. What a dubious honour that would have been ππ’π€·ββοΈ
My son in law craig finished in 2hr 13. He wasn't feeling great after the race he was shivering and really pale he also felt faint but we got fluids and food down him and he was OK.
I ran through Heaton Park on Friday afternoon, doing a 15km loop, and I have a HM route which goes through HP which I've done three times.
The climb from the golf club car park up to the hall is indeed a killer. It formed the 8-9km stretch on the 10km race I did with some work colleagues in October 2021 (and it had bucketed it down about five minutes before the start then too).
Well done!
Congratulations on your HM success Tessie66 . It seems like getting soaked at the start of a race has been a recurring theme this year. But once youβre wet, you canβt get any wetter.
It sounds like it was a tough one with the hill so extra bonus points for you. Enjoy the bling!
Thank you yes was absolutely soaked before then a drip during the half and the being is really nice
Congratulations Tessie66 , sounds tough but you did it in an amazing time!
Congratulations and well done Tessie! ππβοΈ Running that distance in those conditions is not that much fun. But you did it and got the medal π€© Great work!
That's a very impressive time ππππ
Me and everything about yesterday
That's excellent, well done both of you! π
