Half Marathon canal run!

Yes I finally decided on the canal route and glad I did as it was stunning. It was wild weather at the start, but calmer as I got lower. I did plan my route to be as flat or downhill as possible! I managed to keep running right through except for walking a couple of times to drink / eat jelly babies! I didn't take enough drink. I've never felt I needed much on my long runs but could have done with more here. The rungo guide was excellent and I loved the playlist too! Thank you so much linda9389 and roseabi for all your work coordinating this. It was actually fun and so good knowing everyone was either running too or cheering us. The last 5k were definately the hardest, but it is also the longest distance I've been so far - first HM! I left my car at the start and my learner driver son and husband came to pick me up and husband drove our car home via the chip shop, while I supervised the learner and got home quick for a lovely shower (was freezing at this point). Lazy afternoon now until time to go and do calf feeding again! My feet feel battered and legs stiff but I'll keep moving so I don't seize up!! Thank you for this opportunity... as a first HM it was great fun!

Well done, CLR, on a huge achievement. That’s a beautiful photo too and must have made for a lovely route. Very jealous!

Wonderful CLR, it’s amazing what our bodies can do isn’t it? Who’d have thought it? 🏃‍♀️💪🏃‍♂️😀

I was very surprised! I might have actually said "oh!" a few times as I realised how I was doing!!

Looks great, sounds like the canalside route was a good choice - I used to love cycling along them when I lived in Scotland and suspect I would enjoy running along them even more.

It was great.... quite muddy and slick in places but much more sheltered than roads around home would have been.

Congrats on your first HM CLR! Sounds like the canal was a good choice of route. The muddy bits can be hard going so all the more kudos for that!

Thanks I'm amazed I stayed upright but in the end it was a kerb on one of the road bridge crossings that tripped me 😂

Oops! Still, sounds like it didn't do any damage.
