My first was in May when I ran the Chester Half Marathon, and met Health Unlocked regular the lovely Linda Winder and her running posse, and this week I did another one in the Isle of Man. I had the option of either running or race walking it, and in the end chickened out and walked it. Though I have to say I was more knackered at the end of the race walk than I was running the Chester Half Marathon. It was a lovely event, on a flattish course, incorporating roads which make up the Southern 100 motor cycle race course. Even though it was race walking, I think I will count it as a 'real' Half Marathon. For those struggling with running, race walking really is great and challenging exercise.
I came mid table overall of the 50 or so walkers, with the bonus that I won my age group - Over 70s - first in a field of three! But every bit of bling counts at my age, even if it comes in the form of a slate coaster under my cup of tea.

Fantastic! πππ Love the idea of a slate coaster too. I bought a coaster made up like my race bib after my first half marathon - I love it, but I'm not risking spilling my tea on it ... a slate one though, that would be perfectly safe!
Great job Duddles and a super time! I did a marathon race walk a few years ago and it was tough. I swore the next one would be a run, but now that I've built up to a HM running, I'm not sure if I could train enough to run a full HM. I found I walked everywhere while training for the race walk, doing errands on foot constantly which made getting my miles in doable. Running everywhere is a little tougher π
