“I am writing to you to let you know that the results of the masters qualification race at the 2024 Great Bristol 10k have now been verified and I am delighted to confirm you have qualified to represent England at the 2025 International Representative Masters 10k”
So from C25k in 2013 to the chance to represent England in my Age Group (70+) in 2025.
I am very excited and also nervous as this sounds rather different to running local races, which is all I have ever done.
If anyone has any experience or tips to share, I would be very grateful. 😀😀😀

Wow Krissie!!! Huge congratulations and what an honour ….for England I mean. They are so lucky to have discovered you! I wouldn’t spend a second worrying about it; you have made the grade already 🙂
Well to think you were smashing it out the park while I was sedately trundling round the Great Bristol 10k Krissie ! That’s amazing news and wow, how exciting to represent GBR!
Yes, RunBrianRun is something of an international superstar, and I’m sure he can give you some useful advice.
Oh wow! Massive congratulations, what an honour. As others have said, RunBrianRun has also represented England (over shorter, faster distances), but I'm sure the two of you would find plenty to chat about. Take a look at his profile and some of his posts. Once again, huge congratulations 👏👏👏
Many many congratulations you speedy gentleman you! Represent England how does that sound? Various questions have arrived in my mind. Did you know that the Bristol 10k was a masters qualification race, did you have to put your name forward as interested in representing England, will an athletics body, Team England or some such thing provide you help in your preparations for the 2025 International Representative Masters 10k and when is it?! Wow! How exciting!
Hi Over61and still trying (love your name by the way)
To answer your questions, yes I did know that the Great Bristol 10k was a qualifying race You can find out the qualifying races and procedures on the England Athletics website. The first thing you have to do is join a club (which I did for the first time in my life at 67!) and become an EA accredited athlete. I love my running club they are so friendly and encouraging plus I have learnt so much running with others.
Hello Krissie, Thank you fo your reply. I can assure you that representing England is not for me and they wouldn't want me. 😂 I hope you thoroughly enjoy the process.
I began as 61andtrying and when I reached 62, I thought that a name change was in order. When I looked I found that you were only allowed to change your name, I have forgotten the actual number of times, perhaps twice. So I needed a name that would last 😊 I'm 67 now and my over61andstilltrying name has seemed appropriate so far 😊🏃🏻♀️
Hi Krissie First off, huge congratulations on qualifying to represent England in the Masters. The qualification level for V70 is 51 minutes for 10k I think which makes your achievement even more amazing!
I’m not that familiar with EA long distance events but happy to chat about the whole masters national and international setup with you if you like.
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS Krissie! That is amazing news🥳🥳🥳. What an incredible accomplishment and what exciting times lie ahead for you.
I would love to know more about how your running journey. I completed the C25K just before my 60th birthday in 2019 and last year ran the Bristol 10K and this year the HM. I would love to develop my running in a way that helps me keep as fit and active as I can and find useful advice in the HU forums, just wondering if you’ve any advice or could direct me to sources you’ve found helpful. Congratulations again on your wonderful selection 🏃🏻♀️
It sounds like we have followed similar paths at similar ages, although I am a few years ahead, ie older! than you.
For several years I ran mostly on my own, using the HU forums for advice and entering the occasional race to give me a target to work towards. Then a couple of years ago I joined a running club for the first time ever. I have discovered a running club who do a range of different types of runs and who are super friendly and welcoming. I love running with them and it has made such a difference to my running and general fitness.
That’s really interesting to hear the difference being part of a running club has made to you. I’d never thought of taking that step as I thought I’m too old and very slow, but it’s something I will now consider. I’ve noticed at the local Parkrun that there are quite a number of runners with running club shirts so that seems like a good place to start finding out more. Thank you.
I look forward to you adding more posts about your how your training etc is progressing … enjoy every moment!
