Looking forward to reading about everyoneβs runs today!
Second time doing the London Winter Run 10k for me. Iβm lucky to live a short train ride from London, so me and OH travelled up this morning. This event is well organised and arrival and bag drop seemed pretty seamless to us. The start confuses me a little, as despite being given waves, when you get to Trafalgar Square there just seems to be one long line to move you to the start, and we were certainly surrounded by many different colour bibs! To be honest, this doesnβt bother me much as it somehow seems to work! We found ourselves crossing the start line pretty much at the time planned.
I spend a lot of time running on trails and quiet local roads but I always enjoy the chance to pound the streets of our great capital! It felt busier out on the course today which meant a fair amount of weaving in and out of each other but I felt strong all round and the weather was perfect! I also love the penguins, huskies, polar bears and yetis at various points of the course - it all adds to the sense of fun and creates a great βpartyβ atmosphere!
The only downside was an ambulance needing to come past us running at about the 7/8 k point. Tricky and sobering, and I really hope that whoever was in need of help, is okay.
I pushed on towards the finish and crossed the line in 1:03:21 - knocking three and a half minutes off my time from last year, so very pleased with that!
I hope all the other HU runners enjoyed the race and your meet up. Look forward to reading your reports.π
