Well I got around the Admiral City of Newport HM for St. Davids Hospice or as I referred to it yesterday, my 4 back to back parkruns. Lovely picturesque course, a few unexpected bumps, great organisation and support.Despite recent illness which cut out my last 2 long runs and a few of my shorter ones too I managed to get round, although the last 3/4k were a bit messy. Great support also from my son-in-law who is recovering from injury and wanted a slow plod; which he got. The weather was great too a bit chilly to start but blue skies most of the way. Thighs and right knee suffering a bit this morning but hey-ho πππββοΈπββοΈππ€Έπ€ΈββοΈπ€ΈββοΈπ΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ Ώ

Thank You for the Pom-Poms and Support π
Well done! I think you did remarkably well considering the hiccup in your training. Thatβs a great time π And what fab looking bling too π₯°
You can relax now for a few days, all the hard work is done. The thighs and knee just need a rest. Enjoy the post-race glow π
well done OMR, sounds like a good day.
That is a very good time OMR! Really well done. Bet youβre pleased with that. ππͺπ
Thats no plod OMR! Congratulations on a great time and your first half marathon. A favulous achievement. In case the tshirt and fab bling aren't memento enough, I do believe theres a badge here waiting ... yep... there we go.
Thanks for the badge I will keep it well polished. I know it's never say never but HM could be the end of aspirations π so it may stay for awhile
Although Chester and it's fabulous metric marathon are not that far away .... just saying ... π
Now you've done it π€£π€£
πππ
Just checked Linda it's on 6th October same day as Cardiff HM which I'm signed up for. There's one in Colwyn Bay on 24/3 but I think that's a rad close π€£π€£
Hmm. I had a similar problem because it clashed with Oxford HM, so it took me about three years before I was able to enter it. But I loved it. It used to be that Chester was the ONLY UK metric marathon, so this Colwyn Bay one must be new. My brother lives in Old Colwyn ... so now it's you tempting me!
I can't do it this year sadly because of my leg - otherwise I'd jump at it. Let's hope it's a success and they run it again next year. It's pretty much the same as the Coastal HM I did there a few years ago, although that went a bit further as it was point to point (although the final climb back to Eirias Park is just cruel!!!).
So now it's on my radar for 2025! That's payback, even if you probably didn't realise it!!!
Actually I'm wrong. It seems this ran for the first time in March 23, so this will be it's second outing!
I also found this one on the 6th May in Bridgnorth π€£ stuweb.co.uk/events/2024/05...
I'm so impressed with your time, I know comparison is the thrift of joy but can't help feeling a bit peeved that it would take me at least another hour.Well done you and enjoy your after race pride π
Great running OldManRunning - and a time to be proud of, I think.ππ The medal looks fab too! π
Well done and hope the niggles heal fast for you.
Brilliant run OMR. Exceptional pace for a first HM; in fact exceptional full stop! As for the future and any ambitions beyond HM, plenty of time to think about that. For now, itβs time to celebrate π₯πΎ
Excellent HM time. Sounds like you got the most you could out of yourself on the day with your illness ππππ
Very well done OMR and good for you to be able to be strong enough to complete the HM despite the obstacles! I nearly always falter in my runs these days, I try not to but almost always do.
Yay! Well done π πͺπ π
It sounds like a great route π
I hope youβre feeling ok now and ready for your next adventure π
