You Just Cannot Make This Up

So, I had covid but that was a breeze. I used it as an excuse to sleep for 10 days. My runner's lungs and heart took care of the business and apart from losing taste and smell (with an added sore throat treat), I cruised through it all. I felt weak for running afterwards but not weak enough to miss my first full contact martial arts classes in 15 months. We practiced in parks during lockdowns, hitting each other with sticks but that was different.

Running and punching (and getting punched) is what keeps me going. And so I punched. And my right foot went pffft.... Didn't even hurt the guy and now I cannot walk, let alone run. Not sure if I should feel angry or simply stupid but I am stuck in this limbo regardless, where I can't do either until the thing heals. I mean, come on........ Lol

The moment I figure out how not to get hurt from trying to hurt others, I will be unstoppable and will run in the sunset, healthy and strong. In the meantime there will be niggles and frustrations. Well, one's own choice. :)

Maybe I should start connecting the dots. In the past three years all my issues with knees and ankles, as well as one with a shoulder (and let's not forget a broken wrist), came from kung fu, not running. Last December my marathon training got stopped short because of an ankle injury (bad turn on the ground, fast punch and there you go). Then again, if i don't practice I'd get punched more. Decisions, decisions..... :)

Bloody typical innit! Cuh 😏. Life’s a bastid! 🤨

It’s like stubbing your toe on the bed castor before a race 😳. Sh*t happens 🤷‍♀️ I’m swearing on your behalf - which I don’t normally do by the way 😁 but sometimes 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 gosh darn it

So, ice, elevation blah blah, you know the drill. I hope you’ll be a patient patient, she says backing off towards the door

Good luck with it. Get an industrial sized sack of Epsom salts and get dunking.

All the best for a speedy recovery 💪👍🌪

Haha, well, you don't deliberately stub your toe on the bed castor, do you? But you do deliberately try and punch that guy. And if the guy is good you could pay. I often pay. Twice per year, at least. Maybe I should get better at punching? Lol

Oh dear mrrun! I understand completely, I used to kickbox and loved it - until I got a wonky nose one day and decided enough was enough 😊. I love the idea of those sticks, sounds like real fun. Anyway, you beat covid and your foot 🦶will heal, but I am really sorry to hear about your bad luck. Life, eh?! 😊😊😊

Thank you but we often initiate our bad luck, through personal choices. I'm a late bloomer but will eventually get there, ;). As for the sticks, or Dragon Poles, getting hit by one is no fun. We are talking 1.8 meter long thick solid wood pieces. Knees don't like them at all. ;)
