I didn’t really feel like running last night. My balance was all over the place, again. But….I kept going and managed to complete the run…..and ended up feeling pretty good!
Whilst I am sure that this is a vestibular migraine, I went to the opticians this morning just to check out that there wasn’t another cause for my light sensitivity. Result…clean bill of health, despite the bright light filled visual work out. The amazing thing is that from the moment I stepped out of the opticians, I felt much better. Ok, it is a dull day, but my vision and balance now feel much closer to normal….so hopefully the worst is over. Thanks to supportive/indulgent RBs; time to move on from this episode and get on with what we do best 🏃♂️.
Have a great weekend everyone. 🙂

Everything crossed for that move forward for you...maybe just hearing the, Okay, from the optician lifted a little load off the mind also... it does have the power to really impact us.... hopefully you will find things ease... just curious , do sunglasses help???
Thanks Floss. I have prescription sunglasses (same as my normal glasses) and a cap with a long peak, both of which are deployed on bright days. Just hope it is on the way out!
Well done on your run last night BC66 and I am so happy to know that you have a clean bill of health regarding your eyes, I have a small cateract in my eyes but it's not too bad and I can see OK but it might need surgery in a few years time.
Glad to hear that the optician has given you the all clear BC, and you managed a run last night. I’m sure you will continue to take it slowly until you get your confidence back.
Don’t worry Dexy5, I will keep my foot off the throttle. I am not confident that this is sorted yet…I need a bright day for a proper test. Just nice to have a good day.🙂
Nicely done Captain. You’re making progress in the right direction slowly, but surely. Your optician is positive, you’re positive. A bit more of your legendary Sensible traits and you’ll hopefully have seen the back of this annoyance. ❤️
☹️ sorry to hear that; physio time? I seem to be improving, but I just can’t trust it ….so every time I wake is “will it/won’t it!” So far so good today. I had to duck out on a run yesterday as we had family over for a walk and dinner. Maybe this evening,
I have Meniere's disease with lots of the symptoms you describe, I get proper vertigo attacks too. I'm in remission at the moment, but it can start again for no reason, it really is a pain. I find running helps and my specialist tells me to keep running, helps with spatial awareness apparently.
Thanks CG2. I have found that some friends suffer too, all seem to be on different medications and they use different physical manoeuvres to try to deal with it. It is like an unwanted unruly visitor with no set date for going away. Stress seems to play a big role with some and getting plenty of sleep seems to help. I need to learn quickly!
I saw my specialist last year, he gave me exercises, like throwing a ball from hand to hand, and behind the leg. I felt a lot better and he told me to stop the exercises and leave it be.
I try not to turn my head to quickly, and looking down or twisting my head down seems quite bad. I don't turn over too quickly in bed...The weather can affect me too, I can be quite wobbly before a rain storm, then feel better after. Funnily enough, it's been much better since I've been on Levothyroxine for my thyroid, all connected possibly?
It's a horrid thing to have, you feel like you're broken don't you?
Thank you so much Cg. All very helpful. Someone on the Isles of Scilly told me that atmospheric pressure changes can bring on an episode….I have googled it and found that there is research which supports that view. I will give the ball thing a whirl …..🙂
I would be careful about introducing exercises that are not specifically for you, my GP sent me the exercises where you lie down and turn your head to each side - my specialist was annoyed because he said it was inappropriate for me and could have made my vertigo worse (mine is not caused by crystals, the GP just assumed it was)
