Indoors: So today I opted to run indoors due to getting up later than I wanted, uncertainty of bank holiday parking rules around Primrose Hill and fear of recurrence of back trouble.
It was a good decision as I completed the distance in just over 2 hours. That’s a very respectable 8K an hour. I’m going to gloss over the fact that the distance on the treadmill was just under 13K because this represents a significant step forward in my training.
I started off mega slowly and my back was absolutely fine. The deep tissue massage did the trick and I’m going to have at least one a week (preferably 2) between now and the race. I even stretched myself yesterday (get me!). I seamlessly restarted the treadmill after an hour by running on the spot and after an hour and a half I felt like I could run the whole half marathon. Then fatigue set in around 1 hour 50mins and I opted to finish as fast as I could instead. Mission accomplished and I don’t think I’ve ever been as fit as I am now in terms of distance. First time I’ve ever run 16K without stopping.
Celebrated with a Gail’s coffee and a custard and berry pastry. Don’t mind if I do!!!

Thank you! I actually found it quite easy on the treadmill. Listened to music all the way so it wasn’t boring. Evidence of my fitness. I’m going to keep getting them in the lead up to the run. It feels a little sore now but nothing too bad. A massage will help it again so will order another one tomorrow. The pastry was epic 😂
