Beach run

Was supposed to do a long local trail run with my friend yesterday but he had to bail so I decided after much debate on a long beach run. Had a plan to go past my earlier turnaround point I did back in January. So, channeling my inner Roseabi I tried to run as much as I could along the water’s edge with the waves lapping up onto shore. It was quite mesmerizing just watching the water and listening to the sound of the waves. I misjudged a few on the way back and wound up with wet shoes but that was ok and served to cool me off a bit. Had 3 top layers leaving and just one coming back. Cool early on but warmed up at the end. I wore shorts too as we’ve had a spell of warm days this week. For most of the route I was alone on the beach which I enjoyed, but it did get busy with walkers, runners and cyclists on the second half. Happy running everyone!

Thanks IP. Yes it was really nice to have parts of it to myself. It was early and some bits are harder to get to so the walkers are not so inclined to go all the way out.

Haha! Yes, running on the beach stones reminded me of some of Roseabi’s posts about the beach stone running training she did awhile back.

Ahhhh I've been thinking about doing some more of that! 😍

It was fun but tough going in some spots! One of the reasons I tried to run mostly on the tight packed wet sand for most of the beach part.

How lovely! Lucky you. To run on the beach is gorgeous 😃

I was a bit surprised to be the only runner by the water that morning. All the other runners stuck to the paved trails above the beach. In some sections I had to run the paved trail also, but it was getting too busy up there. I prefer the quiet beach.

It’s a wonderful thing 🌊 🏖.

I fancy a HM race in September which is run on a RSPB reserve (dunes) along a much-complained about brick, rubble nightmare of a path, onto the main beach before reaching the prom for the finish It’s my closest bit of coast, so keen to do it. It’s the same place as my marathon

My niece wanted to do the 10k, and had nailed the distance, but she’s given up running, sadly, so I thought I might as well do the HM

It’s the same race organiser that dishes out free ice creams, proper coffees and medals 😃

Oh I think you’d really enjoy this one and maybe even inspire your niece to take up running again!

Reminds me of a quote I once read...

Running is a favour your body does for your soul 😊
