Busy week at school last week and worked Monday so couldnโt do my usual long run. Managed a short run before work on Wednesday and 10k on Saturday.
I really needed to clock up another long run this week and today was the day!
I learnt lessons from my โepicโ a few weeks ago so I checked the route, took extra water, put an extra layer in my hydration vest and also packed a protein bar. I wore trail shoes due to varied terrain - road, grass, pebbles, fields and stony tracks. Decided to leave Squiggy at home because he was a bit tired and also an extended part of the route was on a pavement alongside a busy main road.
Set off later than usual (about 9) because it was cooler and overcast, although still quite humid so I soon warmed up! Usual route down the old railway line, along lanes to the beach (nearly high tide) but then a new route across the railway line through fields and onto the next village. Next alongside a main road to the next village then back down to the beach. Felt good all the way and could have run for longer but had planned for hubby to pick me up. I was amazed how well I judged the distance this time - clocked up 16.16km and then walked along the beach for short distance to finish.
Feeling pleased with training and more confident about my HM in October ๐
Sunday -first Canicross event! 10km trail route. Planning to walk any parts of the route that are slippery or too uneven to try and avoid injury! ๐ฌ

Yes, I am very lucky - lots of lovely routes around here ๐. The railway line is a heritage railway and they donโt run on Monday - but I still checked ๐ ๐! Yes, the Canicross will be fun as long as I donโt trip over! Action photos will be tricky since hubby canโt come with me - I will try a selfie but not while running ๐๐พ๐ถ
I donโt blame you trying to avoid injury. Itโs on my mind too, as Iโm racing this weekend. But not Canicross - how exciting for you and Squiggy! Have a blast and please post lots of photos. ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ฅ๐
Thank you OF. Yes, it was good to clock up another long runโฆ..time is ticking! Fingers crossed that I donโt get a cold from the children in the next few weeks ๐คง๐ค!
Oh super run, well done! Are you going beyond 16 K or are you leaving that for for race day? Lots of people do, I intend to get a bit nearer the distance for my HM.
Hi Curlygurly, I ran (well, a bit of walking uphill) over 20km a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to fit in a loooong run before term started in case things got hectic and I was too tired. Hoping to run another long run (maybe 18-20km) before the event if possible. ๐
