morning shug πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘

Oh aye, a good tune helps things along nicely. I’m in a mellow phase musically at the mo 😁. Looking forward to the heavy rock phase though when it comes to hills, when I dare say Robert plant will be giving it large in my earoles. Sounds a bit wrong 😁☺️

Off running in a mo, post Joe Wicks. I’ve got intervals 🀨☹️

I’ve downloaded an intervals app today as the Nike app is not very good at helping me with them. So, here goes. I bet it all goes horribly wrong. Me and technology πŸ₯΄β˜ΊοΈ

I shall listen to some Donovan on my way home. β€œOh but I may as well try to catch the wind β€œ ......πŸŽΆπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Enjoy the rest of your day πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Now now 😁

My dear wobble, it's my fav Donovan track no other meaning impliedπŸ˜†, Lana Del Rey recorded a spooky cover for the soundtrack of the 2019 horror movie Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark a great cover!

OOoh ta for that snippet. I will go hear!

I do love a bit of Donovan, old hippy that I am. I love the one about spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarkling corn! I have most of them on vinyl. LOL My mum's fave record of all time was Sunshine Superman. I've still not forgiven her for giving my hippy bell to the cockatiel !

I listened to Lana! πŸ‘πŸ˜ƒπŸŽ΅πŸŽΆ

While about it I found a version by the growly Julie Driscoll! πŸ˜ƒ. I really liked her very much back in the day. Wheels on fire πŸ”₯ I loved her look 😁

β€’ in reply tomisswobble

Bit of a Doors vibe to that version or is it the other way around? Ray Manzarek on keyboards?

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathonβ€’ in reply to

Brian Auger i thought πŸ™‚

Very Doorsy!

It takes it time πŸ˜ƒ Gets plinky plonky as he goes into his keyboard solo

Thanks! I've been listening to epic orchestral tracks but I have also been enjoying the songs and tunes of my teenage years over the last few days - I'm thinking of creating another running playlist with some of my favorites on there but also has a driving rhythm to keep me pushing forward! :-)

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathonβ€’ in reply toRedcello41

You can have playlists for hills, one for speed work etc

I like long songs with non repeating lyrics for hills.

Redcello41 profile image
Redcello41Half Marathonβ€’ in reply tomisswobble

That's such a good idea, I'm gonna do that! πŸ˜€

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathonβ€’ in reply toRedcello41

You'll need a good wordsmith for that job. Dylan, Rod, Chuck, and their ilk

If it's a hard hill I find Led Zepp a great help. The angst in them thar blues makes the task much easier

Which reminds me - what interval app did you download, I'd be interested to try it? I used the Nike app for intervals once and it worked quite well, but I'm interested what other interval apps there are out there :-)

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathonβ€’ in reply toRedcello41

The Nike app is no help with intervals It’s hard to run like the clappers and look at an app.

I’ve paid for the intervals pro app but so far I’ve not been able to make it work properly There’s zero instructions and no tutorials, and so far, no support. I don’t know my sets from my cycles either which doesn’t help πŸ™„. Just when I think I’ve got it, I’ve gone out and tried it but it’s bombed. I suppose is easy when you know how 😀. I’ve got intervals later this week. 9 x 200 metres I’m hoping I’ve sussed the ruddy thing out by then 😁

Redcello41 profile image
Redcello41Half Marathonβ€’ in reply tomisswobble

Ah sounds complicated but I'm sure you'll manage to get it to work before then πŸ˜€ how often do you do intervals by the way?

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathonβ€’ in reply toRedcello41

The Nike plans seem to love intervals but their app is pretty crap at making them zip along. Hence switching to the Engima machine that is the IntervalsPro app.

I got help in the end. I couldn't fathom the ruddy thing out. Intuitive my a*se! Turns out not to be a stand-alone app at all. I'm so naive. It relies on ihealth app for it to work. I had to check a seemingly infinite number of boxes to get the thing to work. Then I had to select the intervals and rests blah blah. I wore my index finger to the bone! LOL

Anyway, this morning in the rain, 9 x 200 metre intervals (yes 9!)

It worked! I was so relieved.

Good run for you today RC41, just getting back to running from a injury makes you so happy, you look very happy in that photograph, tomorrow you will go another bike ride in that lovely new bike 🚲 you have, I am sure you will enjoy that 🚲 bike ride as much as you enjoyed your run today πŸƒπŸΎ πŸ‘.

Thank you! My bike ride this morning was lovely, just did a half an hour ride and it was great fun! How's your cycling going? :-)

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrHalf Marathonβ€’ in reply toRedcello41

My cycling is going great, I now only go a bike ride on a Sunday, I used to cycle 4 days a week, sometimes more but I have cut it down to a Sunday only, that's why I started other exercises and running to make up for cycling less.

I heard Elgar's Cello Concerto recently, I just wonder if you have or have ever considered playing what is probably the most popular of cello concertos.

Redcello41 profile image
Redcello41Half Marathonβ€’ in reply toAlMorr

Great, glad you are enjoying your cycling! I'm running tomorrow and then cycling the day after so quite busy hahaha!

I LOVE Elgar's Cello Concerto, it's a very beautiful piece of music! Which cellist did you hear playing it? My favourite version is Jacqueline du Pre's interpretation of it! I can play the first bit of the first movement and the famous tune too, it's so much fun to play! :-)

β€’ in reply toRedcello41

Are you having rest days?

Redcello41 profile image
Redcello41Half Marathonβ€’ in reply to

This is what I'm trying to work out - I run every other day, and a cycle in between my running days apart from Saturdays which I don't to any running or cycling.

β€’ in reply toRedcello41

It's maybe OK, is usually two days per week is enough, bit like I said, you are prob fit so you can just keep going 😊

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrHalf Marathonβ€’ in reply toRedcello41

The CD recording I have of Elgar's Cello Concerto is by the Philharmonia Orchestra with Giuseppe Sinopoli conducting, the solo cellist is Mischa Maisky.

Redcello41 profile image
Redcello41Half Marathonβ€’ in reply toAlMorr

I love Mischa Maisky! Have you heard his interpretation of Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No.1?

That's brilliant, you must be very fit now.

😊 πŸ‘
