I've been running keeping my heartrate fairly low lately, with one interval run a week. Today was to be my hour and 15 minutes run. Half hour zone 1 half hour zone 2 and 15 minutes zone 3, then 15 minutes zone 1 to cool down. I did this run a few weeks ago and it's mostly pretty slow so I covered ,7.6k in that time, arrived home feeling great. But mostly continuous running.
Today was going to plan, steady heading north, seeing the downs in front of me, turn right along the A27, bit uphill, half hour done, up pace a little to get heart work a little harder.
Then my head started chattering, I'm about half way to the river, there's a nice new smooth path leading to the bridge, I could cross that run down the other side, along the seafront and home. π€£π€£π€£, whoops, the deciding factor was a bloke in a car at the roundabout pulling up so I could cross the road. Part of my brain turned right as per plan! The rest of me, legs arms hat bottle of water etc crossed the road and headed for the river duh π.
I went sightseeing π€£π€π€£ππ€£ I saw the Downs, I saw the river, I crossed bridges, I saw widewater lagoon, I saw the sea and I saw the railway line.
It was lovely, the sun was shining, a smile hovered on my face, music played, oh and coach B. I'd set off the 5k run for second week of the HM plan I started a while ago. Got to the end of that run thinking I'm a long way from home, shall I cut through? Nope, kept going.
I'd reached the 15 minute zone 3 part of my run just as I left the main road and roar of cars behind. This is pace 8.15-8.50 and took me across the bridge, relaxed into a very slow pace to bring my heartrate back down, and that run was over, I left it running on Garmin though, walked a bit, took some photos, got to the next bridge, back on the road, up some steps, narrow path, people dogs kids on bikes, I walked, crossed the road and headed to the beach.
Stopped at the ladies, cursed that the hand wash dry thing didn't dry my hands, it was blowing a hooley along the top of the beach and my hands froze until they dried out properly.
I picked the next run in the plan, 25 minutes recovery, took it steady, felt strong and ignored my heartrate.
Arrived where I cross the road, away from the sea, not far from home now, couple more kilometres. Because my Garmin shows heartrate I didn't know how far or how slow I'd run.
Decided on 2nd speed run, I was eager to get home by then. Most surprised that the faster intervals felt so good, I'd been out two and a half hours by then. Once that was over I walked the last 15 minutes home and yay 13.25 kilometres done at a not too bad overall pace.
I now need to find a longer loop, or go out and back along the seafront.
Oh and I bought a car the other day....first time ever buying my car without someone telling me what to buy, it was scary but liberating.
Run happy or rest well my virtual running buddies, I appreciate each and every one of you.
