Oh no, another one turning to the dark sideπ¨ Sandie1961 must bear some of the blame!! Just jealous really. I see lots of bikes on the busy roads around here and it looks nerve shredding to me....I am probably just an old bloke being an old bloke!! Wishing you many happy miles of wheeling away. π
Oh dear! Reminds me I now need to think about the sportive Shake-and-run and I are supposed to be doing in 2 weeks, Coronavirus permitting. No rest for the wicked π
Just realised what you bought! Halfords refused to fit a new chain on my bike at the weekend as it seems the whole chainset needs replacing and that's too big a job for current times! So either I get a local bike guy to do it, or I buy a new bike, which I'vebeen tempted to do for a while now. Have been looking at the Boardman women's adv 8.8. It's a great price for a gravel bike - very few at such a low price. I'm really wary about buying without trying though when it involves that much money. Did you manage to try before buying? Or do they not carry much stock anyway? Which model did you buy? Are you still pleased with it? As a self employed gardener I don't think I can take advantage of a cycle2work scheme, sadly!
Hi Linda. Yes I'm really impressed with it. To be honest I may be purchasing a second set of wheels with some road tyres in the future but that's not essential.
I bought 8.8. It's not the lightest at 10kg but sufficiently so for the price. The gear set is pretty slick. Shimano SORA with FSA 48/32.
The disk brakes are not the best but do the job. It handles well both on gravel and road to be fair.
All in yes not a bad bike for the money. No I didn't test ride it really I read a lot of reviews before biting the bullet....
I'm close to being between sizes. I did notice when I road my son's MB at the weekend that the reach felt more comortable than my own bike which always feels a bit on the small side. I've always had straoght handlebars in the past, so not sure how this would feel either. However, I suspect if I wait til after lockdown I might still not be able to try both sizes. When I called to see if refunds were possible under the current circumstances he helpfully told me yes, so long as the bike was still boxed. He wasn't even joking!
