Why now?😩

The cold doing the rounds at work which I have avoided for several weeks....and more worryingly, I have also done something to my back! I had planned to run this evening but think I might delay and try a gentle one tomorrow. Lots of ice and Ibuprofen will hopefully settle it for Sundays Great South Run but I certainly couldn't run 10 miles with it today!πŸ˜•Healing vibes this way..please!πŸ™πŸ™‚

Definitely sending healing vibes your way Sandra!😊 It’s so close for you now and it would be such a shame if you have to pull out at this stage. Good luck!πŸ€žπŸ€πŸ€πŸ€

It's the back that's a worry...🀞🀞🀞

Oh no! Sending all I have, but don't rely on them, cos they seem to be pretty useless at healing me! Don't worry if you don't get to run again before GSR - you're better off being rested, I don't imagine one more run beforehand will be contributing anything positive to your run at the weekend. Rest well and feel better very soon 😘

Your absolutely right Linda - thank you for those wise words. I might actually be better off not trying to run beforehand actually. Will see how I feel tomorrow.πŸ‘πŸ™‚x

No worries Sandra. Its only Wednesday. You’ll pull through. I’ve just Fedexed a truckload of healing vibes your way πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ’ͺ β›‘

..that'll get me sorted then Decker! I think Linda makes a good point actually - if need be, I can skip running until Sunday. Don't think I will lose my (hard earned!) fitness before then!πŸ™‚

Yep - I am told a break before a race is a good thing :)

everything crossed, healing vibes and a large dose of fairy and unicorn dust on it's way to you.

could you get into an osteopath before your race?

..I know my back pretty well from past issues. It will either settle quickly ..or not!! Don't want to aggravate it though, as a couple of years ago I ended up with sciatica and then nerve damage in my leg/foot. (no running for several months and a really tough return!)

Didn't know whether to post actually but these good wishes have really cheered me up and made me feel more positive! Thank you lovely people!πŸ™‚

that's what's so great about these forums, you can post when you have problems, no only when everything is going ok

I would just rest until Sunday, no point taking any risks now. And you know you're fit enough now after all your hard work.

Echinacea for the threatened cold. Now! Catch it early. Voltarol is a lifesaver for backs xxx

Oh Sandra, I know all about bad timing and injury before a race! Pfft! As others have said, it won’t hurt to not run this week; but keep mobile if you can with gentle walks - I find that helps with back issues. Wishing you all the best, I have everything crossed for you. 🀞🀞🀞 xxx

Oh no get well soon Sandra sending lots of feel good healing vibes from over here xxx

Oh what a pain! These things always seem to happen before an event. I injured my hip jumping out of bed a week before bournemouth half and was gutted to withdraw. Now my hip is on/off niggling before GSR. I have also had a head cold for 5 days with a cough. So I am not running this week in the hope that I get to the start line ok. I would suggest you take some painkillers, keep mobile but leave the run until Sunday. Sending healing vibes your way.

Oh no Sandra. 😩 I think I’d be super cautious and not even try running before Sunday, unless of course your back is significantly better today. Even so, I’d only go for a gentle jog. Hopefully it’s nothing more than a tweak and you’ll be ok for the GSR. 🀞🀞🀞

As for your cold, I swear by First Defence. I was recommended it by VRBs when I felt a cold coming on last winter, and *touch wood* I’ve nipped several colds in the bud since. 🀧 Worth a try! Good luck!

Thanks cheeky. I will leave the running until Sunday (🀞)... but think I am too far into the cold for First Defence as I was snuffly at the weekend too! I have heard good things about it so thanks for the mention.πŸ™‚

You’re an experienced runner so you know what to do. I’m sending you lots of healing vibes and wishes for a speedy recovery on both fronts xxx

Oh, what a shame! I do hope you are feeling ok for Sunday. I had to pull out of an event last weekend due to a virus, only just getting over it today! (Sorry, that probably isn't cheering you up)

Not looking too promising at the moment but I would rather miss it and then get back on track with my hm training, when I'm better. My back has improved but not enough... at the moment! A shame because it's such a great event that I have done twice before but sometimes these things are just not meant to be! πŸ™‚
