Cramp from Half Marathon.. help please

Dear All, I did my 1st HM on Sunday in oxford. When I was in my 19th KM my left leg calf muscle started to cramp... I kept running and managed to finish the race.. now I still feel the pain in that calf muscle after 2 days.. any tips to get it better please... thank you in advance.

Oh dear! Try icing the area a few times a day, and elevate it when you can. Keep mobile with gentle walks. If it is still painful next week, consider seeing your GP or physio to rule out a calf strain. I wouldn’t run on it if hurting just in case it is a small strain.

Thank you. Tried the foam roller yesterday night before going to bed. I will also try the ice packs today.

Sometimes easy stretching it helps on a stair edge. With the front ball of both feet on the stair and just letting the heel sink down slowly a few times often works for me. Abi shared this one and I’ve been grateful ever since.

I had a painful ankle after a trail run and half marathon in the last few weeks so yesterday had a yoga session at home in front of the telly with a dvd. I always walk away from it feeling better I have another half this weekend so wanted to be pain free. Fingers crossed I will be

A post run soak in Epsom Salts is a good idea too

Post run aches and pains are normal and usually clear up with rest keep. Keep moving though
