I haven’t posted my training for today as I’ve not got myself sorted but I’ve been reading all your tips and advice. Anyway today was the day and as I really don’t like the sunshine and it was a virtual one I decided to set off at 5am. I was excited and determined to enjoy it. And enjoy it I did even though at about mile 10 I had to stop and stretch my back and by the time I got home I was walking because my knee was complaining badly as was my back. But I did it. Not sure it’s a distance I would do again but as I wanted to have run a half marathon before I was 70 next year I’m glad I did it.

First Half Marathon
Very well done! The first time you attempt that distance is always hard physically and mentally, especially the last few miles. I attempted my first half at 63 yrs old. No problem with sunshine - the heavens opened and it rained all the way - soaked to the knickers 😱Congratulations on a great achievement. Feet up and relax now!
Oh wow you wouldn’t forget that one 😂. I had a similar experience a few weeks ago!
I was encouraged by a running buddy - she ran her first marathon on her 70th birthday. She ran the same half as me and came in 10 mins faster - she was 75. 😊 Never say never!
Wow! That gives me hope. 😊🏃🏻♀️
I discovered Jeffing from someone on this site. So I do all my runs now at 30/30, or 20/30. Lifesaver for sure. And quicker than continously running. jeffgalloway.com/training/r...

Fantastic! Well done you! I think a self supported, self motivated run is an extra achievement in its own right. Great effort 👍🏻🎖👌🏻

Brilliant! 👏👏👏🏅What a fantastic achievement and goes to show age is no barrier with the right determination and training! I hope you recover well and the aches and niggles settle quickly!🤞🙂
Brilliant run!! I am hoping to do my second HM in September; you have encouraged me!! 🥂👏👏👏👏

A very sensible decision on running your first Half Marathon at five o'clock in the morning and congratulations 🎊, now go and celebrate your wonderful achievement 🏃🏾 👍
What an amazing achievement . Well done, awesome 👏👏👏👏👏
Congratulations on your first HM!
Congratulations Knittingrunner , wonderful achievement!
Very well done! I've not got there yet (but I've tried).
There’s always another time. 👍🤞
I got to 18km in one run. The next was going to be 20km with an option to extend to HM, but circumstances were against me. I'll have another try, but not this month. I'm consolidating around 10km ahead of the Manchester NHS 10K on July 4th. (Assuming it goes ahead as planned.)
That's a great achievement, well done! Really early start too!
Huge well done 👏👏👏That's a great achievement.. hope you feeling ok today?
Congratulations on your first half marathon!👏🥳
Awesome Knittingrunner, many congratulations, enjoy your fantastic achievement and your recovery 🤗
Amazing, many congratulations Knittingrunner 🎉👏👏👏 and a very inspiring post! I'm hoping to build up to a HM sometime in the autumn and your post has really given me extra motivation, thank you! 😃
Good luck. I think I’d prefer to do it in the autumn too but of course you have to train in the summer which isn’t so good. On second thoughts I think I’d prefer a spring one. Winter is my preferred time to run. 😊
I'm with you, I signed up to the HUHM that fitted perfectly with winter training and spring HM but I was on the IC on and off earlier this year so I had to postpone it. At least this way I've got the motivation to keep running through summer 🥵🥵🥵
Well done you! That looks like a lovely circular route too, how nice to be by the sea 😊. What an achievement - I hope your knee and back feel better today! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Just seen this, congratulations! Hope you're feeling better now x
