Mr IDS is away looking after his mum, who has dementia, so I drank half a bottle of merlot. This was a bit of an error the night before an intervals run, especially as I hardly ever drink. I wasn’t exactly hungover but I did feel a bit disinclined to run, and the fast bits of the run were a bit of an effort. Luckily it was only two lots of 5 minutes in zones 4&5 instead of three this time. We live and learn!

It’s decidedly chilly in the mornings now, but I begin to regret long sleeves and leggings towards the end of a run. I’m not sweating much though, so it’s ok. Not much else to say really, except there are dozens of squirrels around right now, dashing across the path, along walls, up trees, grabbing nuts and carrying them off.

Merlot contains grapes. One of your five a day. Congratulations on making it through your run. Put your feet up this evening, watch a trashy movie (or read a thrashy novel), and finish that Merlot off.

You've earned it!

Haha, yes!

I spend all day reading trashy novels, never fear. I’m an old person so don’t work, so once I’ve walked dogs, done my run etc, there’s nothing else for the rest of the day except yoga.

Ah, alas, my partner is a recovering alcoholic so no drink when he’s around, and he’s back tonight. My friend who imbibed with me removed the evidence (including her bottle of rhubarb gin) last night 😂😂😂

Rhubarb gin?? Not sure about that - I have cherry gin and lavender vodka and I’m making sloe gin at the moment but I rarely drink.

I rarely drink either for reasons stated above 🙂 I don’t like gin, but Kate managed a couple of large glasses of the rhubarb stuff last night. It’s a curious thing, but I tend not to really get hungover nowadays.

I occasionally have a port and lemon with my daughter and then we are back on cups of tea after one. Same goes for sloe gin and bitter lemon.

I also like the fruit ciders but have to be very careful as I get a 2 day headache after only one glass. Think I have an alcohol intolerance.

When I think back to my youth........🙄

Oh, yes, yoof! I remember waking up at dawn with my head on the loo seat after too much scrumpy, 19 years old living in Herefordshire. I can’t drink to excess now because of the inner ear thing, if I don’t want the whirling pits all night and the next day 🤢

I remember going to the Marisco, waking up on the beach in the morning, going home showering and going to work and then out again that night to drink again. #Shudders

I just don’t like the feeling of being not quite in control. And I have enough aches normally without adding to them on purpose

I agree. I don’t enjoy that drunk feeling now. In my youth it made me feel invincible, now I just wonder how much it’s going to impact on the following day.

We all know that what you eat is important, you have a very good diet Flick, good run for you, the problem is first you feel cold, then when you run, you feel too warm, just have to balance out different clothes to suit the temperature.

I feel quite pleased with myself today, this morning I had another PB at parkrun, time 32.01, could have been sub 32 but I was speaking to a lady while running and as I got to the finishing line I said "ladies first", I am quite chuffed about that, have a nice day.

Yes I think I need long leggings but short sleeved top for now!

Hey, that’s brilliant. I’ve only ever managed that time in a treadmill, never outside. You must have been running at well under 7min/km. and how kind to sacrifice your time to allow someone to go before you x
