I've made my mind up

The HM is not going to happen on Sunday. I managed 10K this morning but the knee is really sore now. I just can't see me getting round 21K without causing damage so I'm not prepared to risk it. Thanks to everyone for your advice and support and I'm sure in future I'll manage a HM at some point.

Sorry to hear that xxx

Sounds like you've made the right call though, and you WILL run a half marathon at a later date 💗

I agree with roseabi - sounds like the right decision however hard it was to make. Knees can be tricky things to get better and it is not worth risking an extended time on the injury couch. There is always another day and another race - good call.👍

It's all so frustrating. I love running but not sure what I'm doing wrong? I've had right knee pain, now left knee pain and right Achilles tendon pain. I really want to run on Sunday but my head is overruling my heart this time.

A very responsible, but heartbreaking, decision. I had to make the same decision last year and just reread my report on it. It is such a tough decision to make, but your health is more important. That hm will be there when your body repairs itself.

Thanks. Ive left it until the last minute to decide but it really wouldn't be a good idea to run. The thought of running 10 K out and then having to hobble all the way back seems pretty silly. Then there's the issue of serious/permanent damage.

Ahh, so disappointing, but sounds like it's the right call for sure. Rest it properly now - it has been working on the edge for the last few weeks but now it can really take a break.

I'm a bit like you - I seem to roll from one injury/niggle to another; left side, right side, hip, knee, quad.... and trying to wait for each to heal properly is torture (and I'm not very good at it!). Hang on in there. Sit back and google future events while your knee recovers. You'll get there.

Pete sounds like a tough call. You say you love running and that is reason enough to consider carefully whether to run or not you need to consider not just the HM but also the coming weeks and months afterwards.

Good luck on your continued training and future HM 👍👍
