After a week of not running (which was easier than it might have been thanks to being full of cold) I tried 3 miles today. Gentle jog, as recommended by the coach before we start back into training properly. It's been pain free for a couple of days, so I was fairly confident. However... Two miles in I knew. By the time I got home it was a case of breaking out the ice pack again. Arse.
I'm back to the Physio in the morning and I've an appointment booked with the GP for next week, if I can bring that forward I will.
Gloucester this weekend isn't going to happen, and this is putting a sizeable dent in the Brighton plans... Not happy.

Much sympathy. It's so frustrating when you think you're getting somewhere then the niggles reappear. Good luck to you. At least you have the physio on your team!
Yes it is! I was just at the point of starting to actually believe Brighton was achievable. Probably still is, but this kind of nonsense really doesn't help!
So, now we're thinking IT Band... More physio, exercises and stretches. Talked to the coach and we're moving the training to cycling, swimming and strength (minus lunges) for the time being.
In one way that's great, 'cos I've just got a turbo trainer set up in the garage (an hour on it today has highlighted that I've not really been on a bike for a while...), so I'll at least get some use out of that.
In another way it's terrifying, 'cos swimming isn't my best discipline. Still always good to work on your weaknesses, right?
Most miffed not to be running Gloucester on Sunday, but hopeful it's only a minor set-back as far as Brighton's concerned.
