I suppose you could say I have finally listened to my left achilles, which was shouting SO loud I had to abort a run for the first time last week and hobble home. Lots of ice-ing, elevating, deep heat, painful massage and rest (grrrr!) and trying not to panic about a 10k in three weeks and a HM in 7( only got to 2/3 distance in training- eeek!)

Tried a slow 5k walk yesterday- so far, so not so sore.DH suggested a bike ride this morning and I know its not the same, but *says quietly* it was nice to be covering the ground a bit more quicklyπŸ˜‰I could start a hardware shop with the amount of stuff at the side of the road but fortunately no punctures and a bit of free-wheeling at the end 😁. Also I’ve discovered where the non-existent tail wind goes when you’re running- it only works for cyclists!

Anyway, just wanted to say I’m still here and haven’t crossed permanently to the dark( wheeled) side and I have everything crossed for a light jog to the end of the road tomorrow! Hope you’re having a fabulous Monday, whatever you’re up to.

Oooh. Not nice. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery so you can cross back over to the light side very soon :)

Ouchy! Sorry you're having trouble, hope it resolves quickly! Start gently doing eccentric heel dips once the pain allows. But in the meantime enjoy that lovely bike 😊

Cycling rocks!. I love my bike. Nothing like powering up hills at speed!. Hope you recover for your runs in time. I recently took some time off running due to a knee injury and when I ran again recently it felt great!.

oh the darned three week curse! I swear 3 weeks before a race there's a hoo-doo!

Achilles pain! Bah I smear vaseline on my niggly Achilles, double the sticky-up bit at the back of my running sock) and fold it flat between shoe and Achilles, hoping for less rub I don't do up the top hole of my running shoes (you know, the spare one) and I slacken off my laces slightly. I have cut down the back seam of my running shoes too to get some relief. I look for shoes with no heel counter, or at least a very soft one.

Hopefully It will be fine for race day!

That’s good advice, misswobble, thank you. I hope it is only a three week thing, though it’s feeling a bit more than that at the moment. Did a very slow half mile jog yesterday, after the week’s not running, and its very sore today. 😒

dont jog on it then. Let it rest. Ice is your friend!
