I realise that this is actually the 2nd time Iβve done this distance - I did it a couple of weeks ago in 1hr53 minutes on a treadmill. Today 1hr47m cross country...π€
Within the 1st 1k realised I wasnβt going to get as cold as Iβd feared and had to discard my hat - hopefully to be picked up later.
Today was basically 3 hills, mostly off road, including two ploughed fields (had to walk across those they were so bad) with the last hill the longest and most challenging- the kind where once youβve made it youβre surely fit enough to take on Bear Grylls. Then a nice blast to the end downhill, picking up a couple of good split times.
I got to the end of the route only to find I was short in distance - probably those damned fields - so a quick jog back to repeat the 1st 1k again to pick up my hat!

Well, I'm so glad you found your hat Dave! ππ! Well done on a fab10 miler, sounds like a tough one but how much more satisfying than the treadmill! Rest up well.π
Well done to you Dave for completing your 10 miles cross country run, good time as well.
I went on a 12 kilometre walk this morning and for the first time with my new Smartphone and Mapmyrun app know how many steps I got on that walk 17,500 and burned 737 calories which is much more than any of the 5K runs I have been doing recently.
Well done. I bet you enjoyed that! Itβs hard work but really invigorating. Fun too. Some fields have to be abandoned for winter when they get really bad, but after some continued frosts they firm up and could be runnable
I was running across open fields yesterday and the wind was whipping sideways. I use a headband over my cap to hold it on π. Itβs a broad reflective job from sportsdirect
The trails and fields are undulating or downright hilly, so you do get more of a workout. πͺπ
Oh excellent! What a brilliant run. Shame about the hat. I would have stuffed it down my bra - there are some advanteges to the female anatomy!
I empathise over the ploughed field, having run across one a few days ago (Iβm too stubborn for my own good - walking would have been safer). I ran across it again today but managed to find the footpath so only had a few frozen furrows to run across at the end.
Anyway, impressive time and distance. Well done π
