After much deliberation and investigation, I believe we are finally on the verge of changing our forum name to better reflect our ethos!
Exact timings will be down to the HU tech team so we can't say exactly when it will change ... only that we believe it will π
The aim is to keep all URLs the same (the web addresses that determine where we end up), in the hope/belief that that will maintain continuity where we have saved links to pages, or where there are links to posts within posts.
Our new name will be 'Fun beyond 10K, plus race support'.
Hopefully it will better reflect who we are (to the same end, we will be changing our bio a little too) but everything else about us as a forum will remain the same.
Fingers crossed there will be no issues, but please do let us know if you have trouble with anything and we will be right on it.
The marathon team
(oh ... maybe we need to change that too .... π€π₯°)

We do hope so. We have such a variety of runners and all are absolutely welcome, as our new 'about' blurb says:
This community connects and supports road, track and trail runners exploring beyond 10K (10 miles, half, full and ultra marathon, triathlon) and those taking part in racing events at all distances. We share stories, knowledge and experiences about training, nutrition, coping with injury, and more. Join us for helpful tips, weekly chats, race support (our famous pompoms), virtual events and fun challenges - everyone is welcome, whatever your level or ability!
I really like the blurb, it says it all π May take me a little while to get used to the name but I will because I know how hard youβve all worked for it π€
Can't the admins here do a permanent redirect from heathunlocked.com/marathon-running/whatever to healthunlocked.com/fun-beyond-10k/whatever to keep the old links working?
Suspect you already realise this nowster , but I felt I should clarify to anyone else reading: those of us with admin badges don't really have any control over forum infrastructure.
So while we can do stuff like editing, pinning, locking and deleting posts, and awarding badges, we can't actually get at the nitty-gritty of redirects or coding. Instead we have to flag stuff up and make requests to those who work for Health Unlocked. π
I think itβs great new name and captures the sentiment of this forum well. I especially like that I can still post my ridiculously short race events. π
Good luck and well done to all you wonderful admins. x
You've no idea how happy that comment makes me roseabi ! Hope things are good with you (I'm not on Strava much at the moment so apologies if I've missed something crucial.)
Nice and inclusive Linda πππ» Marathons are scary for most of us - either doing them or thinking of them πThe change really does, imho, reflect what the Forum is about πππ»
For me, it was more the case I thought I was losing my mind lol. I was so lucky that it was "perfect" timing and conditions when I trained for mine. I would never have managed it otherwise So glad I did one, it really gives me a mental boost when I find myself struggling at far less distances - I remind myself that I am capable of more than the Gremlins insist I'm not
Unfortunately my absolute primary motivation disappeared when my Marathon-running MC buddies were posted elsewhere. I really wanted to do "just one more" but it wouldn't have been anything like as meaningful, and the sheer amount of time and effort just didn't seem worth it.
My hat is certainly off to you for as many as you have done and are aiming for - that's hard core grit! π₯π
I can remember being in awe of posting anything on a forum that had the word βMarathonβ in it! Possibly it was when I ran my only Half Marathon. It felt like an elite club and I was at the back, by the doors, just tentatively offering a half wave to all the βrealβ runners π
